A few things people sometimes get wrong about Viability’s Clubhouses:

Membership is not time-limited. There is no discharge date. Members can step away and come back — that is built into the model. Attendance is not mandatory.

And it is not a drop-in center. The work is real and member-driven: clerical tasks, outreach, meal preparation, and communications.

All five Viability Clubhouses are accredited by Clubhouse International.

Viability’s Adult Family Care program provides eligible Massachusetts caregivers with a tax-free monthly stipend, nurse support, and case management.

To qualify, you generally need to live with the person you care for, and they must be eligible for MassHealth.

A new school year is a good time to think about what comes after.

Viability’s Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program supports students ages 14 to 22 living with a disability as they begin exploring work.

Job exploration, workplace readiness, work-based learning, and skills for the transition from school to adult life.

Available in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York. Students do not need a plan yet, just an openness to exploring what is possible.

Being Deaf or hard of hearing is not a problem to solve. It is an identity, a community, and a way of experiencing the world.

Viability's Deaf and Hard of Hearing Independent Living Services (DHILS) program is built on that belief.

DHILS is peer-to-peer. Every staff member is Deaf, late-deafened, or hard of hearing.

The program offers peer mentoring, self-advocacy training, assistive technology support, and connections to housing, transportation, and community resources.

You choose what you need.

DHILS serves Deaf and hard of hearing individuals 18 and older in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire counties in Massachusetts. Individuals who currently receive services through DDS or DMH are not eligible.

You can self-refer or be referred by an agency.
