Inner City Mission

We are a homeless ministry in Springfield, IL, serving children, their parents, and single women.

Inner City Mission is a public benefit 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization fully supported by faithful churches, businesses, and individuals seeking to cultivate lasting transformation in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. We are a ministry devoted to understanding the root causes of homelessness, engaging its presence in our own community, equipping the Body of Christ to be a leader in it

s restorative process, and sharing with the public the wisdom we have seen transform thousands of lives.

In March, we asked our partners to help us replace the fifty-year-old wooden fire escape connecting the second-floor residential rooms of The Lodge to the ground. We had repaired the structure over the years, but after serving its purpose well, a replacement was necessary to ensure the safety of our families.

The response was amazing as countless partners came alongside us in prayer and financial support, fully raising the funds needed for the project to take place. On July 23–25, skilled volunteers from various churches worked alongside our staff to tear down the old structure and build a new one in its place. It was awesome to witness the Body of Christ use its different gifts and talents to bring about lasting transformation, a structure that will keep our families safe for decades to come.

Thank you so much to every person who prayed, donated, and participated in this project. We are so blessed to walk in ministry with each and every one of you.

Lola and Jude are 2 awesome kids who spent part of their summer gathering supplies for our ICM families! They came by this weekend and filled our entire paper shed with the donations they had worked tirelessly to gather. Thank you so much for sharing your love for those in need with us! 😎🤩🧻

School started back up this week and we know the first day of school can bring a lot of emotions for kids. We wanted our kids to feel loved and celebrated on this first day, so we threw a little snack party for them to walk into after school. 🎒✏️
It was complete with fun decor, snacks, and our own ostrich handler, Luke! Thank you to everyone who helped our students have a great start to their school this year! 🍿🪩🎉

Every month Hope Church sends a team to share dinner and worship with our residents and staff. 🎶🎤 It is always a fun night full of singing and dancing as people of all ages sing praise to our Father in Heaven. Here is a glimpse of what it looks like each month!

It was amazing having the Pleasant Hill CC Youth group here serving the families who call ICM home. They cleaned & reorganized our food pantry, paper shed, and our walk-in deep freezer. 🧽🧺 They cleaned our conference class room and prepped our living room and kitchen for painting, and they stained our back porch and railings. You pair that with a Taco Gr**go lunch and it was a perfect day! 🌮☀️ Thank you all so much for coming and spending the day at ICM 😎....

We have a unique need at the mission this week! We have a mom who is in need of a car seat for a 1-year-old. 👶🚗 If you have one that you would be able to donate, we would be very grateful!

Scott and Jacob are at Citygate today in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with the rest of the team following them up tomorrow. 🚗🏙️

Citygate is a network of over 300 homeless shelters/non-profits that come together every year to learn and grow during a 4-day conference.

We are excited for our team to continue connecting with other organizations as we help one another shine the light of Christ into homeless communities all across the country. ✏️📖

We just used our last 33-gallon trash bag on the campus 🤠 so if you are feeling crazy and want to swing some by this week we would be extremely thankful!

Havana High School’s senior English class joined us again this year to tackle some service projects around campus. Each year, they bring around 30 students to learn about our ministry and to help beautify and maintain our property. Thanks to their hard work, the campus is looking great with a fresh coat of paint! 🫟👍🏻
