FIRST ON FOX: The U.S. Coast Guard has recruited its largest enlisted class in nearly 40 years, surpassing its recruiting goals for the third consecutive year.

The service welcomed 5,445 active-duty recruits in fiscal year 2026, up from 5,204 in 2025 and 4,422 in 2024. It also commissioned 346 active-duty officers, the second-highest total in its history.

The surge comes as the Coast Guard expands recruiting efforts and invests $400 million in modernizing its sole enlisted basic training center in New Jersey.

Opening August 4, 2027, the National Coast Guard Museum will bring the history and legacy of the U.S. Coast Guard to life through interactive and immersive experiences, state-of-the-art exhibits, more than 600 artifacts and 5,000 images, and STEM-based educational programs.

Outside the Museum, the Revenue Cutter Argus Promenade will stretch along the waterfront façade and connect with New London’s City Pier Plaza, the future homeport of the USCGC Eagle. The promenade will be lined with commemorative pavers, creating a lasting tribute that will welcome visitors for generations to come.
