This is what the HBA does to protect our industry. Through strong advocacy and quick action, the HBA worked to ensure the Electrical Code vote resulted in practical standards that benefit Arkansas builders and homeowners. Without these efforts, the outcome would not have been favorable for our industry.
ADVOCACY IN ACTION. This is what the HBA does to protect our industry. When the Electrical Code vote unexpectedly shifted toward adopting the 2026 NEC in full — including costly AFCI requirements that would have added thousands to the cost of new homes — our HBA leadership and advocates immediately went to work.
Through the efforts of Arkansas HBA lobbyist Lucas Hargraves, Walker, Cobblestone Homes and key legislative leaders, the Board reconvened and restored the agreed-upon carve-outs that make sense for Arkansas builders and homeowners.
Because of those efforts:
✔️ Housing affordability was protected
✔️ Practical, safe standards prevailed
✔️ Our industry had a voice at the table
Advocacy matters. Representation matters. Relationships matter.
Without the hard work behind the scenes, this vote would not have gone our way. Thank you to everyone who stepped up and fought for Arkansas builders, homeowners, and the future of housing affordability.
