Here is her story...My mother-in-law was a TWIG in the 80s and 90s in Dayton so I learned of the organization years before I had the privilege to join. I have always volunteered throughout my teen years and into adulthood. I’m a former Junior League of Cincinnati member and was drawn to that organization for supporting Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank- after having my first child, I couldn’t imagine struggling to keep her in diapers or having the basic resources mothers need. After my second child was born at 4 lbs, 6 weeks early, I had to have heart surgery two days later. I developed HeLLP syndrome and was struggling to survive. My baby was in the NiCU for weeks putting on weight and thriving as I healed from the hardest fight of my life. Without the cutting-edge technology, the care of qualified staff and the love I felt from people I never knew but who prayed for me, I surely wouldn’t be here today.❤❤ In the spirit of my life long dedication to voluntarism and my desire to help other mothers and families as they do their best to survive and find normalcy when up against the odds, I made the space in my very busy life to give back with TWIGS. The sisterhood, dedicated long-standing members and the mission were so inspiring to me. My husband’s mother passed before she could meet my children but in her honor and in celebration of my family’s triumph over life-threatening circumstances, my motivation to help others is deep-rooted and stronger than ever. My husband is a retired US Air force sergeant from Dayton and we met in the aerospace industry at Boeing. I am currently a Director of Quality at GE Aerospace and we live with our two beautiful children in Springboro.
