RIP Reagan

It is with great sadness that Springboro Schools has learned about the passing of Reagan Scacchetti, 4th Grade student at Five Points Elementary. Reagan, who was diagnosed eight years ago with Hypothalamic/Optic Chiasmatic Glioma, an extremely rare form of brain cancer, passed away last evening at 7:40pm with family by her side.

Reagan’s passing is a huge loss for Five Points Elementary, Springboro Schools and the entire Springboro community. We understand that this can be a difficult time for the families whose lives have been touched by Reagan. A team of counselors has been made available today and throughout the remainder of this week to provide emotional support for those Five Points Elementary students and staff in need.

In November of 2021, Reagan's family and friends joined the entire staff and all students at Five Points Elementary to help celebrate a balloon launch in support of Reagan, which consisted of over 200 purple balloons.

Community members were encouraged to join everyone in supporting Reagan, an amazing young girl, who was the kindest soul and one who was always willing to help others. In a show of support for Reagan and the Scacchetti family, students and staff have been encouraged to wear purple (“Purple Out”) throughout this school year, Reagan’s favorite color.

Details with regards to Reagan’s services will be communicated to district students, parents, and staff as Springboro Schools is made aware. Reagan Scacchetti has been fighting like a champion over the last eight years. The district’s deepest sympathies go to the Scacchetti family during this challenging time.

We have tried many local golf courses, but due to Covid they were not allowing additional tournaments this year. We will try to secure a date for next May. With that said, we still provided 5 scholarships in the past 2 years. We are asking for your help. We would like to raise $2000 to help us continue to give scholarships. Thanks to Randy and Rosie Steele for starting us out. Please contact me if you would like to help us continue our tradition in loving memory of Laurie. God Bless,
Lindsay Meek
