The Greg Poe Memorial Scholarship

Last night we Lit up the Night for Blood Cancer United. It was a bittersweet moment as we closed our chapter on the scholarship. With helping provide life saving medicine to many people, our donation made a huge impact! We were also thankful to have a mum with Greg's name and a photo to remember him by.

The scholarship is ending, but we have a new beginning in Greg's grandson, Stetson. Greg's giving spirit will live on through everyone he impacted with his infectious smile and attitude! Finally as he would say to everyone "It's never goodbye, it's always see you again".

Tomorrow we are walking!! It's our final way to honor the life of Greg to end the scholarship. Feel free to join our group (The Greg Poe Memorial) or you can sign up the day of at the event!

Thanks to everyones help we were able to donate $5,000 towards life changing medicine!

EVENT LOGISTICS

DATE: September 25th, 2025

LOCATION: The Fraze Pavilion, 695 Lincoln Park Blvd., Kettering, OH 45429

PARKING: You may park in surrounding lots, but please be mindful that Lincoln Park Boulevard will be closing at 3:00pm until the conclusion of the walk. Lincoln Park Boulevard will also be closed to street parking.

We are heartbroken hearing the news today. Scottie was a wonderful young man who loved the game more than most. His family dedicated a lot of time and effort to the team and the lacrosse community and it shows in the outpouring of support during this time. We are definitely thinking of you and praying during this difficult time. We will meet again some day Scottie!

Thank you to everyone who joined us in commemorating the fifth anniversary of Greg’s homegoing. Your presence and support made the celebration meaningful, and it was a beautiful reflection of the impact Greg had on all of us.

During the event, we shared that the scholarship fund is entering a new chapter. After careful consideration, the board has decided to retire the account and allocate the remaining funds in a way that honors Greg’s memory. We’ve outlined the following steps:

Event Costs: A portion of the funds will cover the costs of food and materials for the recent celebration.

Additional Support for Scholarship Recipients: Each of our past recipients will receive an additional $250.

Final Donation: The remaining balance will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Light the Night event in Dayton, OH, at the Fraze Pavilion on September 25. We warmly invite you to join us in walking together in remembrance of Greg’s courageous battle.

We're out here at in Kettering to honor the man who has started our journey. Greg was a wonderful man and many even called him a saint. If people feel generous and want to give we had added the fundraiser to the post, and just $100 helps give life saving effort to those effected by Leukemia and Lymphoma. We love and miss you Greg Poe!

We apologize for the late post as there has been a whirlwind of activity! Congratulations to our winners! We selected the Men's Scholarship winner Scott Michaud! He's a fantastic goalie for the varsity team and excelled on and off the field! Good luck in your future endeavors at Marquette University!

Our Women's winner was Sophie Nemitz! She had a wonderful essay and excelled on and off the field as well! Not to mention she is the sister of Garrett Nemitz who played at Springboro as well.

We really appreciate Beehive Photography for taking these photos and being there to capture this moment again!

A final thank you to Matt Leedy and Jim Morgan who helped select the winners as Lisa and Logan Poe remain unbiased and have no selection power at all.

Unfortunately due to current conditions, the Senior Night festivities have been moved to Sunday, April 14. We will announce our scholarship winners after the Junior Varsity game is completed that night. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Winners have been selected!! We are excited to announce who has won the scholarship for the Men's and Women's teams on Friday 4/12 during senior night! If you're in the Springboro area, come to Wade Field as the Panthers take on the Loveland Tigers in their game starting at 7:15pm!

We really want to thank everyone for the support and generosity throughout the year as giving the scholarship away would not be possible without those involved! A special thank you to our two board members, Jim Morgan and Matt Leedy, who helped select the winners as Lisa and Logan tried to stay impartial to the selection.
