7/31 - Black Tot Day: Commemoration of the day in 1970 that His Majesties Royal Navy ended the daily rum ration, a rite and tradition dating back to 1731, but referenced as far back as 1655. The Daily Tot consisted of 1/8 Imperial Pint of rum, as a grog, served at 6 bells (11am), although in the1700s it’s documented sailors received one half pint of rum as their tot. Join the party, raise a glass of grog to commemorate the end of an era!
