Today, October 12th, in observance of National Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the SIMBA and Live Local INW offices will be closed. We honor the Spokane Tribe of Indians: Sntútʔulixʷi, Snxʷmeneʔi, Sc̓qesciłni, and Sčewíleʔ (Upper Band, Middle Band, Lower Band, Chewelah Band), who have lived and cared for these lands since time immemorial. We pay our respects to their Elders – past, present, and emerging – and show gratitude for the land, river, and people who have sustained life here for generations. May we learn from one another’s stories, so that we may nurture the relationship of the People of the Spokane Tribe and to all those who share this land.

Join us for Spokane’s 2026 Indigenous Peoples Day celebration! ❤️💛🤍🖤

This year’s theme, Following the Elders, reminds us to honor the knowledge, strength, and guidance of those who came before us while creating a healthier future for the generations still to come.

The day will include an Indigenous march, community feast and giveaway, Native food and art vendors, music, dancing, a fashion show, youth and family activities, and much more.
