The Spokane Alliance has a long history of supporting public transportation in Spokane. In 2004, Alliance leaders helped organize a successful grassroots effort to pass the STA funding measure after an earlier attempt had failed. Building relationships and organizing throughout the community made the difference.

The Spokane Alliance Strategy Team recently voted to endorse Spokane Transit Authority Proposition 1, which will renew the existing .02% sales tax that supports transit operations. This renewal measure will sustain public transit operations for the next 20 years, with no increase in the tax rate.

Public transportation connects our communities by providing access to work, school, healthcare, and other activities that make Spokane more accessible and affordable.

Join us this Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Park, 1208 E. Mission Ave for the Yes for Buses community canvass with Fuse Washington.

• Vote YES on Proposition 1 on Tuesday, August 4
• Volunteer by door belling or phone banking to help inform voters ( https://www.yesforbuses.org/ -involved )
• Contact us if you are interested in helping coordinate a Spokane Alliance canvass day

We hope you will join us in supporting Proposition 1 and helping ensure Spokane has the reliable public transportation our community depends on.

PSA: Summer Potluck Cancellation

We've received several inquiries about our annual Summer Potluck, which was previously listed on our website for today (July 9).

Several weeks ago, we made the decision to cancel this year's potluck due to our current staff capacity and took down the event posting. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your support and look forward to gathering with you at next year's Summer Potluck!

We are still feeling inspired by the incredible energy in the room at Our Stories, Our Future - Friends of the Alliance Fundraiser.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, donated, and cheered us on... THANK YOU. Your generosity and belief in our mission made the evening a tremendous success.

We are thrilled to announce that, together, we raised $36,350.

The evening was filled with powerful stories, thoughtful reflections, and moments that reminded us why this work matters. Here are a few quotes that capture the heart of the night.

Our Haitian neighbors are our coworkers, caregivers, and friends. They are an essential part of the Spokane community.

Last week's decision putting Temporary Protected Status (TPS) at risk has created tremendous fear and uncertainty for many local Haitian families. As many as 150 members of Spokane's Haitian community could lose work authorization and face deportation to a country experiencing extreme violence and instability.

Spokane Alliance stands alongside Creole Resources, Jasmin Ministries, and Eglise Evangelique Maranatha to build a community where every person is treated with dignity and has the opportunity to thrive. We will continue working with our partners to ensure families have access to accurate information, legal resources, and community support during this difficult time.

We encourage our community to:
• Support organizations serving Haitian families.
• Stay informed and share accurate information.
• Contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to pass legislation extending protections for Haitian TPS holders.

When one part of our community is threatened, we all have a responsibility to stand together.

Local organizations assisting refugees are providing resources and legal help to the hundreds of immigrants in Spokane who may be affected by the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling Thursday morning.
