Spokane Lilac Festival Association (SLFA) is a 501c3 nonprofit community organization established in 1938 by the Associated Garden Club of Spokane. Following the end of World War Two, what had been a loosely organized group of enthusiasts gathered to officially form the Spokane Lilac Festival Association, launching in 1946 and continuing to this day. Each May the SLFA hosts communities from across

the Pacific Northwest for the annual Lilac Festival culminating in the nation’s largest Armed Forces Torchlight Parade on Armed Forces Day. SLFA Directors and the Royal Court of seven high school seniors selected from among Spokane County’s 31 area high schools travel across the northwest each summer with the festival float, serving as ambassadors of Spokane to the region and beyond.

💜 Introducing Partners in Purple! 💜

This Friday, we’re launching a new series celebrating the organizations, businesses, military partners, and community leaders who help our region bloom.

For our very first Partners in Purple spotlight, we’re recognizing Spokane Public Schools! From dedicated educators and staff to the incredible students who represent our community, Spokane Public Schools plays an important role in developing the next generation of leaders.

Our partnership with local schools is especially meaningful as we work to fulfill one of the Spokane Lilac Festival’s central missions: Empowering Our Youth. We are grateful for the school coordinators, teachers, administrators, and families who encourage students to participate in programs such as Lilac Royalty, Teacher of the Year, and our essay contest.

Thank you, Spokane Public Schools, for helping our students—and our entire Lilac City—continue to grow and bloom! 💜

What a wonderful day for our military community! 💜

The Spokane Lilac Festival, Global Credit Union, and the Wing Morale Fund came together to celebrate the presentation of $9,264.78 raised through our Military Appreciation Golf Tournament!

This contribution will directly support the airmen and families of Fairchild Air Force Base. We are incredibly grateful to Global Credit Union, Toyota, our hole sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this tournament such a success.

Together, we are honoring our military and making a meaningful difference for those who serve!

💜✈️ FAIRCHILD FRIDAY: Celebrating Fairchild AFB Youth ✈️💜

As we wrap up our Fairchild Friday series, we couldn't think of a better place to end than with the future of Team Fairchild—its kids!

Military children experience a life unlike most. They make new friends, adapt to change, cheer on their Airmen, welcome them home, and learn at an early age what service and sacrifice mean.

But they're also doing what kids do best—learning, playing, exploring, dreaming big, and having a whole lot of fun along the way! 💜

The young people growing up in the Fairchild community aren't just watching today's Airmen serve. They're seeing examples of leadership, resilience, teamwork, and commitment that will help shape who they become tomorrow.

Throughout this Fairchild Friday series, we've celebrated the mission, military families, Fairchild's history, the 141st Air Refueling Wing, veterans, women in service, and the incredible partnership between Fairchild and Spokane.

As summer winds down, our 2026 Spokane Lilac Festival Royalty are preparing to trade their crowns for college classrooms and begin an exciting new chapter!

Throughout this festival season, these remarkable young women have represented our community with grace, kindness, confidence, and heart. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished—and even more excited to see where their dreams take them next.

Although college may lead them in different directions, they will always be part of the Lilac family. Please join us in wishing our Royalty an amazing year filled with new friendships, meaningful experiences, and plenty of reasons to shine!
