Tomorrow the Washington House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources will be voting on HB1735 - a bill prohibiting the force feeding of birds and sale of foie gras in our state. If the bill is passed into law, Washington will be foie gras free in 2028!

Please use this link to show your support for the bill. Thanks!

We request that lawmakers swiftly pass necessary legislation to protect Washington from harmful agricultural endeavors proven to be detrimental to ecosystems globally.

Fery and Sepi's Catering and Takeout has signed our foie gras-free policy and removed foie gras from their online menu following a kind and respectful phone conversation. We’re deeply grateful for their thoughtful response and willingness to align their offerings with compassion.

Their decision shows real leadership in the Spokane food scene, and we hope others will follow their example.

We received an email today from an attorney for Gander and Ryegrass stating, "I confirm that Gander and Ryegrass is not re-ordering foie gras, having removed it from its menu early last week, and will not serve foie gras once the current in-house supply is gone. A sign is being prepared for the front window to this effect."

While we believe foie gras should be abolished immediately due to its inherent cruelty, we recognize this policy as a meaningful step in the right direction. In light of this commitment, we will be halting our protests of Gander and Ryegrass.

We commend Peter Froese, owner of Gander and Ryegrass, for taking a stand against extreme animal abuse and choosing to end foie gras sales in short order. This decision reflects a growing awareness that the suffering of animals cannot be justified.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to every activist who took a stand against the cruelty of foie gras at Gander and Ryegrass. Your courage, creativity, and relentless dedication made this victory possible.

Gander and Ryegrass has removed foie gras from their physical menus. According to an employee, the restaurant has stopped serving foie gras after three months of protests.

While this is an encouraging step, and we commend owner Peter Froese for making it, there is still no official policy or written commitment ensuring foie gras will stay off the menu. Without such a guarantee, the door remains open for its return.

We are asking for one simple thing: a written statement - by email or a printed letter we can pick up at the restaurant - confirming that Gander and Ryegrass will no longer sell foie gras. Once we receive this policy, we will formally resign from the campaign.

Until then, our protests will continue.

On Saturday, we once again protested outside Gander and Ryegrass in Spokane. We saw customers we interacted with leaving the restaurant minutes after entering, and one bystander was so moved that they picked up a sign and joined our demonstration.

Despite a few vocal critics, the overwhelming response from passersby was supportive of our clear and common-sense opposition to the cruel production of foie gras.

After the protest at the restaurant, we continued our efforts across the street from the home of the owner. Local residents we spoke with were shocked to learn about the brutality behind foie gras and expressed their concern.

Peter Froese, if you're reading this, know that we will not stop until you end the sale of foie gras. Your neighbors and potential customers are becoming increasingly aware of the cruelty you are supporting, and they deserve to know the truth.

If you're interested in joining our protests, send us a direct message—we’d love to have you with us.

Francaise and other restaurants under Eat Good Group LLC have adopted a foie gras free policy after a month of sustained protests.

We commend Adam Hegsted, owner of Eat Good Group LLC, for making the reasonable and compassionate decision to take foie gras off the menu.

Thanks to everyone who called in and supported our protests!

Adam Hegsted, owner of Francaise, has told us he is taking foie gras off the menu after sustained protests.

However, he refused to sign our foie gras free policy letter that states Eat Good Group LLC (Francaise and other restaurants) will not sell foie gras in the future and will remove it from their menus within 30 days.

Without a policy saying Eat Good Group LLC will no longer sell foie gras, we have no guarantee moving forward that it will stay off the menu nor are the messages he sent us a legally binding agreement like a policy email or letter would be.

Until we get a foie gras free policy, we will continue to protest at Francaise for the ducks abused by La Belle Farms.

We had much positive support tonight at Francaise. Members of the community surrounding Francaise vocally opposed cruelty to ducks and encouraged us to keep protesting.

We're running a little late to the Francaise protest today. Should be there by 7:20 PM PST.

La Belle Farms in Sullivan County, NY is the foie gras supplier for Francaise restaurant in Spokane, WA.

They keep the ducks in dark, filthy sheds and the "hand feeding" they do is still done with a rubber pipe jammed down the esophagus of ducks.

Their livers still swell to 10x their natural size and in the promotional video by La Belle Farms on their YouTube page, which only features several seconds of force feeding footage, the birds struggle to get away from their human abusers.

Francaise put out a sign claiming La Belle Farms is humane during our protest - a sign they know what they are doing to ducks is fundamentally wrong.

Some chalk art left outside Francaise after our protest on April 12th.
