Nothing but sunshine and smiles🌞🛶

Our August paddle on Section 6 of the Broad River was a fantastic time! We were joined by 8 wonderful paddlers and enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather, cold river water, multiple class I rapids, and each other's company. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this trip, you were a pleasure to paddle with!

Despite the intense heat, the Trail Tamers were able to contribute over 60 hours of work to our local trails this month! Thank you to every single volunteer and our partners at Conserving Carolina for dedicating their time to our projects.

Together we accomplished over 7 miles of brushing, 2.5 miles of drains cleared, 10 trees removed, and more! Get a glimpse of this incredible work and the people who made it happen in the photo collages on this post!

Calling all ROC Members! 📣

Get a sneak peek of the new Wolfpen Loop trail, a segment of the Wilderness Gateway State Trail, before it opens! ROC will join Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina and the McDowell Trails Association for a preview hike of this loop trail, which is one of the first in the area designed for adaptive mountain bikes. Don't miss out on this exclusive opportunity, open only to ROC and MTA members!

Participants can choose between the full 10-mile hike or a 5-mile section hike.

The hike is Thursday, September 17th at 10AM!

Many partners helped with the recovery work for this species after Hurricane Helene, and ROC is proud to partner with and support the work of the Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy through sustainable trail practices on Weedpatch Mountain Trail. Show your love for our waterways by helping clean up Section 10, from 221 to 221A access points. This is a water-based clean-up on an 4-mile stretch of river with broad views, gentle flows, and abundant wildlife. Please bring your own boat, paddle, and lifejacket (PFD), or sign up to borrow gear from ROC in the registration form. 🛶

When: Saturday, September 26th @ 9:00AM
Where: Section 10 (221 to 221A), dependent on river conditions

Become an ROC Dog Walk Lead and help put on our Rescue Dog Walk with Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue- Rutherford County, NC! 🐕🐾

We are looking for volunteers that are interested in taking on a leadership role 🙋 for this monthly event! Lead duties will only include day-of tasks: coordinating volunteer sign-in with the rescue and leading volunteers on the walk.

Your time and dedication make a difference! Dog Walk Leads help ROC continue supporting this event as our programming grows and spreads 🌱 Be a positive force for good in our community and help ROC fulfill its mission! 🌄
