I was contacted yesterday by Western Justice to have the NPHA join their national coalition to protect ranchers from the growing threat of livestock depredation from gray wolves in the western states. I fully support delisting the gray wolf from the endangered species act and I believe each state should have a clear management plan to sustain, reduce or grow gray wolf populations as necessary based on science and wildlife management principles. We must manage our wildlife in all states and protect our ranchers who provide food to Americans. A national coalition will also help preserve our hunting privileges when advocates or policymakers try stripping our hunting rights away from us.

The Wildlife Commission voted to bring back a reckless regulation to ban thermal hunting for all animals during the big game season. This pits the so called “protection of big game” against predator hunting during those months when predator hunting is prime. The bottom line is it’s already illegal to use thermal for big game and the wardens have not enforced the current law or done anything proactive about enforcement for years. Now they think creating another law that criminalizes predators hunters will fix this.

Congress District 2.

Hello everyone,

For the last year you have seen me post about anti hunting groups using political candidates and ballot box measures to ban various forms of hunting in Nevada. We have groups that are trying to take away people’s rights to hunt, fish and ranch in Oregon. Courts are now stepping in to close public land to protect wildlife that are not even remotely close to being endangered because advocates have weaponized the courts. Advocates found a bill sponsor in congress to introduce legislation to ban coyote calling contest on all federal lands in 2024 and they will try this again eventually to pass it. Republicans and Democrats tried to sell of vast amounts of public land this last year which would have taken away your ability to access those lands for all recreational activities.

I see the writing on the wall and it has pi**ed me off so bad that I decided to do more about it. Yesterday I filed to run for Congress District 2. This is a huge endeavor for me, but one I am willing to attempt because I don’t want Nevada to fall victim to the nonsense I mentioned above. I firmly believe out of all the current candidates I will represent you the best as a hunter, trapper, angler or out door enthusiast because I am one of you. No matter what happens I will still remain involved in the NPHA, but I am asking for your support in the upcoming primaries.

In order to keep things separate from this page you can follow me on my Facebook campaign page. That page is George Forbush for Northern Nevada. Thank you!

Play the attached video to see what advocates are trying next. In 2025, advocates failed to ban coyote contests, shorten trap checks and further regulate trappers over a couple lions that were unintentionally caught in foot traps. As predicted, they only have bear hunting and Houndsmen to go after next. They want to ban the use of hounds, set up wildlife plans under their emotional beliefs and shorten bear hunting if not eliminate bear hunting all together. In an attempt to accomplish this, they want our commission to investigate Houndsmen and regulate them. That’s what advocates are really asking for. My message to the advocates is if they ever do convince this commission to open that door, the NPHA is going to jump in with both feet and ask for things we want. Like…a spring bear season that allows us to hunt over bait. Expanded hunting opportunities in the Tahoe basin and a wildlife study on the depredation of deer from bears to justify upping bear tags to protect deer herds. You see how this will work? I can’t wait for them to ask to try and take things away from us and Houndsmen because we are going to go the other direction to defend what we have and justify why we should have more bear hunting opportunities. In the end, sportsmen will get more than we have now because advocates have weak arguments.
