The South Windsor Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. Membership can be mailed to P.O.Box216 South Windsor, CT 06074.

The purpose of the South Windsor Historical Society is to seek, acquire, maintain, research and display objects pertaining to local history such as, but not limited to, artifacts, relics, books, manuscripts, oral histories, and genealogical data in order to preserve these for future generations and also utilize these for educational purposes; to provide information when possible for the preservation and marking of historic sites and buildings; to acquire by gift, purchase, or otherwise, real and personal property; to use and/or manage such property in any legal manner as the Society deems appropriate; to provide educational programs of general historical interest for the public; to carry on all activities appropriate for a historical society. www.southwindsorhistory.org has membership types and prices.

History Mouse visited the one-room Pleasant Valley District 5 Schoolhouse today. Do you like my costume?
Did you know that by the 1900s Halloween was a night of mischief? Trick or Treating began in the 1920s to discourage pranks.
At first kids asked for treats on October 30. If a house didn’t give treats, they got a prank on October 31.
Now October 31 is the night for family fun and treats!

Come on down and join Rich Nawrocki manager of Connecticut Brewery at 765 Sullivan Ave and get a coffee at the Birdhouse Coffee annex. Until 2pm the birdhouse is on display and you can get a raffle ticket in person! Drawing is November 12th.

History Mouse is currently on display at Wood Memorial Library on Main Street! He is only visiting there till October 19th! They are open Mondays and Thursdays.
