We are excited to once again host the Mayor's Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

This event was started in 2020 in collaboration with then Mayor Andrew Paterna (now Deputy Mayor) and we are happy he will be joining us again with Mayor Craig Zimmerman. This year they have put together teams of volunteers who will serve 2 meals at the Community Kitchen at Cornerstone tomorrow.

As we approach Giving Tuesday, we’re reminded of the incredible power of community. Every meal served, every neighbor sheltered, and every family supported at Cornerstone is made possible because people like you choose compassion.

This year, the need in our community continues to grow. Families are struggling with rising costs, reduced benefits, and uncertainty about what tomorrow may bring. Through it all, Cornerstone remains a place of hope, dignity, and support but we cannot do it without you.

Your Giving Tuesday gift today can make an immediate difference.
But we invite you to consider taking one more meaningful step. By turning your Giving Tuesday contribution into a monthly recurring donation, you help sustain our shelter, community kitchen, food pantry, and clothing bank all year long. Monthly giving provides steady support we can count on especially during the times our neighbors need us most.

Your ongoing generosity ensures:

Warm meals are ready every day.

Our shelters remain safe and staffed.

Families facing hardship can access groceries and essential support.

No one in our community is left behind.

This Giving Tuesday, please join us in creating lasting impact.
Your kindness today and every month helps us carry hope into the entire year ahead.

Thank you for standing with Cornerstone and caring for those who need it most.
Together, we make this community stronger.

Last night was our 7th Annual Sleepout to End Homelessness that we co-host each year with Senator Saud Anwar, who has never failed to sleep out in the elements (no tents and this year, not even a box) because he chooses to do so to truly experience what those who have to do it daily go through.
We had a wonderful group of friends of the cause join us in solidarity to make this event a success. We also honored the unhoused people who died this year and lit luminaries with their names written on them.
This year, we were joined by team members from Journey Home, Hartford and we were so grateful to have their support.
Seeing people from different walks of life come together for a cause is both heartwarming and inspiring. We had long, meaningful conversations about making change and thinking of solutions on how to help eradicate the issue of food insecurity and homelessness. Having people who have themselves been in these situations share their thoughts and experiences gave us first hand insights and helped us understand better how we can help as a community.

Homelessness and food insecurity shouldn't be a problem in a country like the United States of America. A first world country with an abundance of wealth that if distributed fairly, no one would go hungry. We believe if we come together, we can achieve this.

🌙 Support Our Sleep Out to End Homelessness! 🌙

Tomorrow night, we’ll be coming together for the 7th Annual Sleep Out to End Homelessness — a night of solidarity, empathy, and community action.

We’re looking for a few generous individuals or families to help provide food and drinks for those attending the Sleep Out. If you’re able, please consider contributing one of the following:
🍕 8 pizzas (for dinner)
💧 2 cases of bottled water
☕️ 3 boxes of hot chocolate from Dunkin’
🍩 Donuts for breakfast
☕️ Coffee for breakfast

Your support helps keep our participants warm, fed, and connected as we spend the night outdoors in support of our unhoused neighbors.

If you’d like to donate or help in any way, please comment below or send us a message. Thank you for helping make this night possible — and meaningful ❤️

🌙 Join Us for the 7th Annual Sleep Out to End Homelessness 🌙

On Saturday, November 8th, Hartford Bags of Love and State Senator Saud Anwar invite you to come together for a powerful night of community, empathy, and action. 💙

We’ll gather at Nevers Park to hear from individuals and organizations working tirelessly to support our unhoused neighbors — and from those who have experienced homelessness firsthand. Afterward, participants who choose to will spend the night outside in the elements, standing in solidarity with those who don’t have the option of shelter.

This event isn’t just about awareness — it’s about compassion, understanding, and taking steps toward lasting change.

🌧️❄️☀️
We sleep out regardless of the weather, because our unhoused community members don’t get to choose when they must stay outside.

🗓 Saturday, November 8th
📍 Nevers Park, South Windsor
🕕 Gathering begins at 5pm

Bring an open heart, warm clothes, and your commitment to help end homelessness. Together, we can make a difference. ❤️
