Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for the South Windsor Invasive Plants Education Area.

12/06/2024

With the colder weather setting in there will not be December Work Party; we will resume our battle with the pesky invasives in the spring.

MANY THANKS to all the volunteers and Town staff for supporting the 2024 Work Parties and expanding the knowledge of the harmful impact of invasive plants in the community!

It was a productive year in managing the invasive plants and planting native species in what has been formally named the Invasive Plants Education Area … keep your eyes open for a Town sign. The official grand opening of the Education Area will be in 2025!

The first business, Karpen's Gardens, LLC of South Windsor, has signed up to “Adopt the Trail” section, committing to the long term maintenance of the Trail. The “Adopt The Trail” approach provides individuals, community organizations, and businesses the opportunity to take ownership of a 50’ section of the Trail extending back 20’ on either side (approximately 2000 sq feet). (The monthly SWIPWG Work Parties will continue to address invasives elsewhere in the Education Area.) The “Adopt the Trail” maintenance can be accomplished at the time most suitable for the individuals/organizations/businesses.
