Last Friday, SKLT explored Crawley Preserve on a guided hike, and what a journey it was! Even along just 2 miles of trail, there was so much to discover: from the historic granitic gneiss quarry to blooming mountain laurel, glacial erratics, and discussions about beech leaf disease and the impacts of the spongy moth.

Crawley Preserve is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. If you’re feeling inspired to hit the trails this weekend, be sure to check out the newly reopened Yawgoo Trail as well!

After six years in the making, Yawgoo Trail is officially open once again! 🎉

On June 12, we celebrated the reopening of this beloved community trail with a ribbon cutting and the chance to welcome visitors back to the woods, wetlands, and unique ecosystem of Yawgoo Pond.

This milestone would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors, grant partners, volunteers, and supporters. Together, you helped make extensive trail improvements possible, including beautiful new boardwalks that protect sensitive habitats while improving access for all.

Now it’s time to come explore! Whether you’re revisiting an old favorite or discovering Yawgoo for the first time, we hope you’ll get out on the trail and see what your support helped create.

If you visit, we’d love to see your photos and hear about your experience. Tag us in your adventures!

Thank you for helping make this day possible. We couldn’t be more excited.

Open Space Makes All the Difference. 💚

We’re also grateful to our beverage sponsors, and , for keeping everyone refreshed! Check them out this summer for both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beer 🍻

This past Saturday, SKLT had the honor of attending the Rhode Island Trout Unlimited Annual Banquet, where we were awarded RITU’s 2025 Partnership Award.

Over the years, we’ve worked together on programs like women’s fly fishing clinics, casting workshops, and our Annual Youth Trout Fishing Day at Biscuit City, welcoming a new generation of anglers.

We’re so grateful for this partnership and the shared commitment to protecting Rhode Island’s natural resources and connecting people to the outdoors. Thank you, RITU!

Looking forward to many more years of working together.
