Bharatanatyam is a South Indian classical genre of dance, universally recognized for the grounded geometry of its precise pure technique and extensive narrative vocabulary.

This event opens with a brief history of the genre, tracing its fascinating evolutionary trajectory to show how modern Bharatanatyam has transformed in both content and form.

Following this historical context, we will present a repertoire of select pieces designed to invite viewers into the rich storytelling possibilities of the art form.

To conclude the evening, we invite the audience to step onto the floor with us for an interactive, hands-on movement workshop geared toward the universal art of storytelling through dance.

We are honored to announce that the Consulate General of India, San Francisco is partnering with the India Cultural Center of Utah to host a Consular Camp & Open House as part of the "Consulate@YourDoorstep" initiative — coinciding with our annual India Mela!

Services available on-site:
* Passport renewals & new applications
* OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) services
* Renunciation of Indian citizenship
* Visa services
* Power of Attorney
* Life Certificate
* Miscellaneous attestation services
* Notary services (on-site, by ICC)

Who will be there: A delegation of officials from the Consulate along with the VFS Global team will be present to receive, scrutinize, and process applications in person. ICC has additionally arranged for an on-site notary to support documents requiring notarization.

How to prepare:

India Mela is our annual signature community event, which draws a lot of visitors each year . Community volunteers from various regional organizations from the Indian subcontinent offer delicious food dishes that are unique to their region. The diversity of food draws visitors from the entire Salt Lake Valley, and the festive atmosphere is always fondly remembered for a long time. In addition, cultural programs, musical performances, train rides, inflatable play areas, and various other activities make the Mela a "destination" event! India Mela includes many vendors - boutique, sarees, jewelry, henna& face painting stalls for the community.
