Heroes on the Water - Treasure Coast Chapter

Heroes on the Water - Treasure Coast Chapter Heroes on the Water helps wounded veterans and their families relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate through kayak fishing and the outdoors.

Heroes on the Water (HOW), Coordinated Therapeutic Programs provide alternative therapy options to providers of treatment to individuals diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The benefits of the HOW programs in conjunction with traditional methods of treatment, including recreational, individual, expressive, and group therapy, are significant. Th

e experience can transcend barriers, enhance safety, decrease anxiety and the other symptoms associated with PTSD and TBI, thereby enhancing the overall treatment process. Heroes on the Water is actively seeking partnerships with established treatment programs, including inpatient traditional facilities and outpatient group sessions, to assist in the healing process, while facilitating a positive interaction with nature for our nations warriors. There’s a pattern across people who serve.

Attention stays wide and the mind keeps tracking, even when there’s nothing left to respond to.

Over time, that becomes routine.

The alternative to that pace is time on the water.
The rhythm of the kayak.
The movement of the water.
The next cast.

That’s where something shifts.

Not all at once, but enough to notice.

The pace slows.
Focus holds.
The background noise fades for a while.

The work doesn’t change. But stepping out of that constant state, even briefly, has an impact.

And that's the power of what we do at Heroes On The Water.

Thousands of people served.
Hundreds of chapters and volunteers.
Countless hours on the water.

But the real impact isn’t the numbers — it’s what those numbers represent. Thousands of veterans, active duty military, law enforcement officers and first responders are gaining mental clarity, finding strength in community, and forging unbreakable bonds with their families through kayak fishing.

Every donated dollar, every volunteer hour, every partner with us on this journey ensures those experiences remain free and accessible to everyone who participates.

And for that, we thank you.
