🌿 Creating Space to Grow

On , we're reflecting on the environments that help growth happen.

Plants need care, patience, and the right conditions to thrive. People do too.

Through creative workshops, OUR Arts Foundation helps create and foster spaces where participants can slow down, express themselves, connect with others, and explore personal growth through art.

This photo was taken during a staff workshop with our partners at Your Safe Place. What began as a simple creative activity became an opportunity for reflection and a reminder that growth often happens one small step at a time.

Today, we're celebrating the power of nurturing environments - in nature, in our communities, and within ourselves.

Today, on Global Parents Day, we celebrate the parents, caregivers, mentors, and supportive adults who help young people feel seen, encouraged, and connected.

This photo was captured during Igniting HOPE & Building ComnUNITY with our partners at . Moments like these remind us that healing, growth, and belonging are strengthened when caring adults invest in the lives of young people.

At OUR Arts Foundation, we believe creativity can help build connection and community. We're grateful for those who show up every day to support and inspire the next generation.

Every organization has a story.

Ours began with an artist who experienced firsthand how creativity can help carry us through life’s most challenging moments.

In this reel, we’re sharing a glimpse of founder Marcia’s journey and the inspiration behind OUR Arts Foundation.

Today, that same spirit lives on through art workshops where creativity becomes a starting point for healing. We’re grateful to everyone who continues to help make this work possible. 💜

Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to join our partners at Just in Time for Foster Youth for their Igniting HOPE & Building CommUNITY event. đź’›

Throughout the day, we connected with attendees through keychain-making, shared more about OUR Arts Foundation, and spent time alongside organizations doing meaningful work within San Diego's communities.

We’re especially grateful to Just in Time for Foster Youth for including us in this event and for the work they continue to do during Foster Care Awareness Month and throughout the year. Their commitment to supporting transition-aged foster youth has a lasting impact on so many lives.

Thank you for bringing people together in a way that felt thoughtful, welcoming, and genuine.

For Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re honored to share an anonymous story from someone impacted by OUR workshops.

Healing rarely happens all at once. Sometimes it starts with compassion + creativity, and simply having a space where people feel safe enough to be themselves.

Art can become more than expression - it can offer relief during difficult moments and help people reconnect with themselves in meaningful ways.

If you have a story about healing, recovery, creativity, or personal growth that you’d like to share anonymously, we’d love to hear from you. Our messages are always open 🤍

A moment we wanted to share. 📚

After reading "Theo of Golden" by Allen Levi, our founder's book club reached out to share how the story resonated - and how art continues to shape their lives through the work of some of the book club members.

More from Kelli Godwin:

“We are also grateful for the photos you included - they were a gift to see. Thank you for gathering together, for reading with intention, and for the good work each of you is doing in your communities.”

It means a lot to be seen in this way. At OUR Arts Foundation, we witness every day how art can open something up... offering a way to reflect and process, to reconnect over time.

Grateful for this exchange, and for the many ways this work continues to reach beyond what we can see. đź’›

As National Volunteer Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize the people who make this work possible - our volunteers. đź’ś

Whether you’ve helped lead a workshop or supported behind the scenes, or simply shown up when it mattered, your time and care have shaped what OUR Arts Foundation is today.

So much of this work happens because of you. Thank you for being part of this community - not just this month, but all year long!

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, we’d love to welcome you. You can learn more about volunteering or supporting our work on our website.

A big thank you to one of OUR Arts' biggest supporters, Barbara Marks Blue, for this generous donation. đź’›

These panels will be used at upcoming art walks to help us display artwork created in our workshops - from participants, survivors, and the artists who support this community.

Being able to share this work in public spaces matters. It gives people a chance to connect with the work and better understand what happens in these workshops.

We’re so grateful for Barbara’s continued support.

If you’re local, come see us THIS WEEKEND at Ignite HOPE & Building CommUNITY Festival with Just in Time for Foster Youth - we’ll be making keychains with attendees and would love to create with you. 💛
