We had a (sideline ✨) seat to spearheading & smashing the 10,000 Care Actions goal - and it was spectacular. ⚡️

Girls ages 5-14 stepped in and ran the booth themselves - shift to shift. They delegated, explained stations & pulled friends, siblings, coaches + parents into their fun. We love their off-field camaraderie - and the leadership and confidence on display was straight All-Star ⭐️. Well done!

Inlight Institute founders, Jen and Courtney, turned their catalyst moments into an advocacy campaign for . That led to them to building to empower kids to care about themselves, others, and the planet on a mission to prevent the pathway to violence. 🌟 Youth Advocate Spotlight 🌟

Today, we’re celebrating Brayden (11), Deven (12), and Finn (8) for their incredible efforts to raise awareness about food insecurity. Every year, they take on the PB Challenge to address the most pressing needs in their community. This year, in light of the LA fires, they not only supported their local food bank but also extended their efforts to aid LA wildfire relief.

These young advocates interviewed food banks in San Diego and LA to identify the top needs—peanut butter, granola bars, dry milk, and cereal—and then got straight to work! They created and distributed flyers to over 100 homes, asking neighbors to leave donations by their mailboxes. Thanks to their determination and community support, they collected an astounding 4,957 servings of food!

When asked why they took on this challenge, they said:
“We can either sit around and be sad, or we can get out there and do something about it to help make things better.”

Their creativity, teamwork, and gratitude remind us of the power of taking action. They shared: “We are so grateful for everyone in the neighborhood who supported our mission. Together, we can make a difference!”

Natural disasters like the LA wildfires can be overwhelming for kids. We can support them by help them process their emotions, feel a sense of control, and find ways to make a positive impact. Involving children in community support activities can help kids feel less anxious and scared. 🌟

🌍 Expert Tip: Dr. Tamar Kahane, a licensed clinical psychologist, emphasizes the importance of honesty and validation: “Start by acknowledging and validating their feelings and the reality. It is scary. It’s not your job to pretend that everything is okay when it’s not.”

🌈 Meet Ireland, age 9! She created a brainstorm map to process her emotions, listing ways to feel better and how she could help the community. 💡 Parents can use this idea to help their kids understand and express their feelings.

🔹 More Ways to Support:
1. Peanut Butter Challenge: Donate jars of peanut butter to food banks! Peanut butter is high in protein and can help families in need. Resources are on our website to run this Service Project. 🥜
2. Donate to nonprofits: Contribute to organizations helping fire victims. Check out the link in our bio for a link to a campaign with vetted nonptofits to choose from. Kids can demonstrate ownership over where they want their dollar to impact.

📝 Parents: Create a brainstorm map with your child to:
• Write down feelings.
• Find actions they can take to feel empowered, like donating supplies, volunteering, or creating a community support card.

Together, we can show kids how to take action and help their community through tough times! 💪💙
