Help Shore Raise Some Dough! Tomorrow, October 15th, it is Shore's fundraising day at Panera. From 4-8:00 p.m. at the restaurant located at 5508 W. Touhy in Skokie, we will receive 25% of purchases when this flyer or code (FUND4U) is used for online purchases. Online orders will count towards our sales all day. Thank you for supporting this event!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and today is Breast Cancer Awareness Day. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., 1 in 8 women in the U. S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and approximately 382,640 women the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Early detection is key!

Sponsors being sought for Friendly Phantom Fest on Saturday October 24th. Shore is partnering with the Skokie Chamber of Commerce to host a sensory-friendly trunk-or-treat event for individuals with disabilities and their families. From 1-3:00 p.m. in our parking lot at Lincoln and Main Street in Skokie, lots of fun will be available. Aside from treats, America, aka "Meri" the comfort dog from the Skokie Police Department, will join us and there will be other activities.

We are looking for partners to host a trunk or make a donation. Visit shorehalloween.givesmart.com or text shorehalloween to 76278. Thank you in advance for helping us make this a BOO-teautiful event!

Staff training and team building at Shore today! Staff spent the day learning about the following topics: How to be an Ambassador for Shore, Infection Control by Ryan Cook at NHRMA Mutual, Retirement Plans by Jim Fitzgibbon of Raymond James & Associates, Stress Management & Mindfulness by Dr. Kevin and Dr. Romil Sood, and team building conversations. After lunch, staff enjoyed bowling at Lucky Strike. Way to go Team Shore!

Save the date and register for a PUNS Enrollment Event at Shore! On Tuesday, November 3rd, you can register to be on the Illinois Department of Human Services Prioritization of Urgency of Need for Services (PUNS) list. The list is a statewide database that records information about individuals who have developmental disabilities who are potentially in need of services. The event is in conjunction with Community Alternatives Unlimited and will run from 5-8:30 p.m. Please scan the QR code or contact Valerie Moothart, Family and Community Engagement Manager for mor information.
