Making jewelry at the Life In Motion - Your Choice Program! Khiyona Winfert and Jessica Payne, Direct Support Professionals, assisted Emilie, Izzy, and Mika in making necklaces out of resin. Each person selected the design and painted it before it was put in the machine to harden. Afterwards, they were amazed by the custom jewelry they could wear.

Cindy and Guadalupe recently visited Miko's Italian Ice in Chicago. They enjoyed a refreshing treat on a hot, summer day.

Register now for the August 25th Connected Families Networking Meeting. Our guest is Corrine Murray, Director of Training and Consultation, at Have Dreams - Advancing Autism Services. They are Chicagoland's leading ASD expert, helping individuals with autism learn, function independently and socialize to reach their full potential. Corrine will share information of their Educational (IEP and 504) Advocacy Services. The event is free and childcare/respite care is available.

UNO! Michael and Emilie prepare to play UNO while at the Life In Motion - Your Choice Program. They both are wearing Hawaiian leis, which were given to them by Glenn Tatsui, Direct Support Professional, upon his return from vacation. Mr. Tatsui shared with his group that leis are traditionally made from fresh flowers, leaves, shells, seeds, or nuts, and are worn to symbolize love, respect, welcome, or celebration.

Green thumbs at the Koenig Center! Joshua, Dmitry, Angela, Vincent, Priscilla, Paul, William Marcus and Vanessa cleared the planter box to plant wild flower seeds while participating in the Gardening Club. The individuals enjoyed learning how to plant and care for the new garden. They will take turns watering and they can't wait for the flowers to bloom.

Connected Families is a network for those supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Every month, we host a free networking meeting with a featured guest speaker. This month, our guest is Corrine Murray, Director of Training and Consultation, at Have Dreams - Advancing Autism Services. They are Chicagoland's leading ASD expert, helping individuals with autism learn, function independently and socialize to reach their full potential. Corrine will share information of their Educational (IEP and 504) Advocacy Services. The meeting is on Tuesday, August 25th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Joseph Koenig, Sr. Training Center in Morton Grove.

Volunteers needed for Summerfest, a picnic for our participants who receive Community Day Services. It is on Friday, August 28th from 10:00-2:00 p.m. help is needed with set up, cooking, serving lunch, games and other activities. Last year, Felicia liked the playing "Pick A Prize!"

John, Candace, Jason, Patrick and William spent the day visiting Historic Wagner Farm in Glenview, which is owned and operated by the Glenview Park District. They liked walking around and checking out the animals.
