CCC brings new comfort items to patients admitted into the hospital for cancer to help fight the mental battle as they fight the physical battle.

Amber started Cancer Comfort Collection after an Avera Hospital volunteer's simple gesture helped her mom's mental battle while fighting the physical battle as an inpatient with cancer. And that's what the Cancer Comfort Collection is about! Donations needed by Nov. 19, 2021: new men's hat/stocking hats, new soft blankets, new soft socks, adult coloring/puzzle books, colored pencils.

Brooke was recently admitted into inpatient oncology and got a comfy robe and soft socks from Peggy's Closet.

She wanted her story and picture shared here in hopes to help others and to thank you for donating as she is very thankful for the gifts she received, they are comfy and cozy! Sidenote- Brooke was also recently a CCC kickoff event attendee and got to go up onstage to cut hair!

Brooke's cancer journey began when her primary care physician recognized she had dense breast tissue and referred her to the Comprehensive Breast Center.

There, she learned that screening options go beyond a standard mammogram. A contrast-enhanced mammogram can provide a much clearer picture for women with dense breast tissue, helping detect abnormalities that may not be as visible on a traditional mammogram.
Brooke wants you to know, dense breast tissue requires a different approach to screening, and understanding your options can make all the difference!

Brooke is thankful for getting comfort items directly from Peggy's Closet and will continue to advocate passionately for herself and others!

You've watched the videos, you've read the posts, stop in and be a part of it in person! The 10th Annual Cancer Comfort Collection Kickoff Event starts today at 4 pm at Remedy Brewing Company!

Therapy dogs, live music, prize drawings, hair cutting, dancing, laughter, fun and great memories made!

If you have been or currently are being impacted by Cancer this event is for you. Come say hi, let's celebrate you and your loved ones together.

Thank you to the local donor that asks at least once a month while running errands "what does Peggy's Closet need"?

If you’ve ever noticed your skin drying out or your nose feeling scratchy while spending time on an inpatient oncology floor, you are definitely not imagining it. Hospital air is notoriously dry, and it is entirely by design for the benefit of the patient's health.

These unscented moisturizing lotions are ideal for bringing some comfort and relief to oncology inpatients skin.

It’s these quiet, ongoing acts of generosity that sustain Peggy’s Closet and helps bring comfort at a time when those need it most.
