At Hope Floats Foundation, we believe no child should inherit the fear of water.
When a parent never learned to swim, the odds stack against their child before they ever reach the water’s edge. Research from the USA Swimming Foundation points to a hard truth: in households without a swimming adult, a child has only about a 13–19% chance of learning to swim themselves. Fear, and the danger that comes with it, gets passed down from one generation to the next.
But this cycle isn’t unbreakable. It’s just underfunded.
Your gift gives a child 12 weeks of swim lessons with a qualified Instructor, often the first person in their family to truly learn. It turns a parent’s “I never learned” into a child’s “I can.” And the ripple keeps going: kids who learn to swim grow up to raise kids who swim. One scholarship can change the trajectory of an entire family line.
A full 12-week scholarship costs $350–$450, and covers everything one child needs to go from fearful to confident in the water. Can’t sponsor a full scholarship? Any amount brings us closer to the next child on our list.
Help Hope Floats break the cycle, one child, one family, one generation at a time.
