This envelope dates from the early 1880s and was postmarked in Burkes Station, VA on May 30. It is referred to by philatelists as a "DPO," "discontinued post office." The name "Burkes Station" was discontinued in 1903 when it became "Burke, VA." That name was discontinued in 1972 when the post office was converted to a branch of the Springfield, VA post office.

This product was amazing for stripping paint off of the Little Tavern hamburger sign previously posted about here!

The cost of an individual LT “slider” was 10¢ in 1959. Guessing this sign dates from the late 1960s or early 70s. If anyone knows for sure, please let us know.
