The Krewe of Centaur is proud to welcome Josh Martin as our Grand Marshal for the 2027 season.
Josh Martin is a Haughton native, and his voice helps anchor a global $30+ billion mega-franchise that includes shows, movies, action figures, clothing, beverages, and video games spanning more than two decades.
During his career, Josh has worked on over 100 projects, and acted as over 90 individual character voices.
But Josh is probably best known as the definitive English voice of Majin Buu (including Good Buu, Evil Buu, and Kid Buu) in the Dragon Ball universe. He has voiced the character across over 100 television episodes spanning Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Dragon Ball Super, and theatrical feature films like Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.
Dragon Ball is a $30+ Billion Franchise, and is one of the top 15 highest-grossing media franchises in history. It generates over $30 billion globally, outgrossing franchises like Harry Potter, Transformers, and Jurassic Park.
You can find his character’s image on millions of action figures, Funko Pops, graphic tees, and trading cards sold at major global retailers like Target, Walmart, Hot Topic, and GameStop.
While Josh has many other tremendous voice roles, he has another iconic character that most people know...
Long before his voice acting fame, Josh spent over a decade as the physical suit actor inside Barney the Dinosaur! Playing the character for television, network specials, movies, and live performances.
Josh is a staple on the global pop culture circuit, having headlined hundreds of comic conventions, anime expos, and fan festivals across the globe. At show floors and fan meet-and-greets, his table brings together two distinct generations: parents who watched his work in the 1990s, and young adults who grew up listening to him destroy planets in Dragon Ball...
Josh Martin grew up in Haughton, and graduated from Haughton High School in the Class of ‘93. While in school, Josh was an All-District goalkeeper for the Haughton soccer team, a champion hurdler for the track team, and won All-State Academic honors while a member of the Haughton football team.
Josh was also Princeton Jr. High and Haughton High School choir All-District and All-State Tenor and Baritone, respectively.
He played soccer for CABOSA from 1983 to 1991, and joined the LSU-Shreveport Pilots Men's Soccer team in 1993.
The acting bug bit in TL Rhodes 2nd grade play “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!”. Josh said "The audience erupted in approving laughter as I, playing Linus, delivered the line as directed, 'Come on, Charlie Brown! You can do it!', then jumped sideways with my hand shielding the words from Charlie Brown and added the scripted aside, 'Boy, am I a hypocrite!' The audience erupted!"
Josh's father, John Martin, worked for Carter Advertising and had his own independent agencies. Josh was able to observe aspects of the entertainment industry early on, without actually being involved. Josh's mother, Peggy, worked at Bank of the Mid South and Josh said she "gave us all her unconditional motherly love, wisdom, and support!"
In our local Mardi Gras World, Josh's parents were a part of the group that brought our modern Mardi Gras celebrations to Shreveport-Bossier. Both of his parents were Board Members for the inaugural Krewe of Gemini launch. His father was one of the first Co-Captains of the Krewe of Gemini, leading their promotion, publicity, and designing its first poster. His mother worked with Parade Chairman Jim Waugh as their Throws Lt. That original Gemini parade featured 200 charter members, 12 floats, and more than 50 parade units. They launched our modern Mardi Gras generation by winding their way through Shreveport and into Bossier City.
Josh grew up in Tall Timbers with his parents and two younger sisters, Hallie and Leigh, until he moved to Dallas to pursue a life of entertainment.
