Congratulations to the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet (SMB) for receiving a $15,500 competitive grant from the Carolyn Querbes Nelson Memorial Fund!

Ms. Carolyn Querbes Nelson, a passionate supporter of the arts in Shreveport, was deeply involved in various cultural organizations. She earned her Master’s Degree in Art History and served as the first full-time Director of Programs at the Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College, where she developed outreach and education initiatives.

Throughout her 25-year career as Managing Director at Querbes & Nelson, Carolyn held leadership roles on boards for numerous organizations, including the Shreveport Art Guild and the Shreveport Symphony.

CFNLA is proud to continue her legacy of positively impacting our community.

A heartfelt thank you to the Community Foundation of North Louisiana for awarding SMB a competitive grant to support our mission of presenting full-length ballets and providing opportunity and education for our community.

Shriners Children's Shreveport received a 2026 Competitive Grant of $50,000 made possible by several funds, including the Rubye Moss Ratcliff Fund at the Foundation. Rubye Moss Ratcliff, a talented artist, grew up at 3000 Fairfield. Her father, a Mississippi native, established a successful grocery and oil business in Shreveport. After her death in 1983, Rubye left a generous $2.3 million bequest to the Community Foundation, which has since awarded over $6.4 million to organizations in our community! Congratulations, Shriners Children's Shreveport! 🎊

Red River Revel received a 2026 Competitive Grant of $65,000, made possible by the Merlin Fund at the Foundation. Established in 2007 in honor of Merlin Smith, who was born in Karnack, TX, the fund supports community initiatives. Merlin was a passionate outdoorsman and fishing guide on Caddo Lake for nearly 30 years, during which he taught many young people about fishing, hunting, and camping. Since its inception, the Merlin Fund has awarded over $1.4 million through nearly 50 grants. Congratulations to Red River Revel!🎉

CFNLA is excited to announce Brandon Brown as the most recent addition to CFNLA’s seven-member Board of Directors. Brown is succeeding longtime board member the Honorable Jerry Edwards, Jr.

Brown brings nearly two decades of legal and leadership experience in federal and state law enforcement, complex investigations, and litigation. Currently a partner at Fisher & Phillips, LLP, Brown advises corporate clients and individuals in state and federal government investigations and white-collar criminal and enforcement matters.
