She was moved to an area where she can safely grow to adulthood without risk of human contact. 🖤🥹

Yesterday we received a phone call about a snake that was “shaking its black tail” and had somehow gotten stuck to some tape.

Usually when we get calls like this, it turns out to be a harmless snake and a case of mistaken details. But I always ask for pictures anyway…

And MAN, am I glad I did this time!

Meet Isabel… a beautiful little Timber Rattlesnake. 🖤🐍

She was discovered inside a shop after the homeowner moved a mower and found her underneath, stuck to some masking tape.

Unfortunately, both myself and my team were tied up and unable to respond, so I reached out to Summer with Lone Star Wildlife Solutions, and she absolutely saved the day.

One of my favorite parts of this whole call was the homeowner specifically asking us not to hurt the snake. (We never do!) He cared enough about this little rattlesnake to give her a name: Isabel. 🥹

When Isabel was found, she was very dehydrated, so she’ll be spending a little time being rehabbed and getting back into good shape.

And she has one little adventure before returning home:

Isabel will be joining me for the Nature-ology course at Hagerman on October 10th, where she’ll get to serve as an incredible ambassador for a species that is so often feared and misunderstood.

Shortly afterward, once we’re confident she’s healthy and ready, Isabel will be released back into the wild where she belongs. 🖤

Huge thank you again to Summer for stepping in when we couldn’t, and to the homeowner for choosing compassion for an animal that a lot of people would have immediately chosen to kill.

Good morning, everyone!

It’s that time of year again! As we start getting some cooler mornings and evenings, don’t be surprised if you notice a little bump in snake activity during the warmer parts of the afternoon.

Snakes rely on outside temperatures to regulate their body temperature, so as the nights cool down, they may take advantage of those warm, sunny afternoons to get moving, bask, and hunt before temperatures drop again.

That means you may start seeing them at times and in places where you haven’t noticed much activity during the heat of summer… stretched out on warm pavement, driveways, patios, rocks, or other areas holding heat.

As always, if you find a snake around your home or property that you’re uncomfortable with, please don’t try to kill or handle it. Give it some space, keep kids and pets away, and give us a call/message.

We’re happy to come safely relocate it. 🐍🖤

We’ve had a recent uptick in calls and tags in the last few weeks. It’s still incredibly hot in the middle of the day, so it’s not quite “snakes everywhere!” season, but as temps cool off, expect contact with all wildlife to increase.

Hey everyone, Jordan here! I wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone who shared our post about needing more help. We've added on 6 new relocators to assist us, as well as 3 people who have joined the team to get some experience of their own alongside our relocators! Our team is pretty well staffed for now! We even added a second person in Bryan County to help in Oklahoma. 💪

We look forward to continuing this mission of helping save both residents of Grayson (and surrounding) counties, as well as our native wildlife and spreading education along the way.

🐍 We Are Looking for Additional Team Members! 🐍

As the page continues to grow, so does the number of relocation requests coming in from across the county. While I’m always happy to help when I can, Grayson County is a big place, and response times can vary depending on where calls are coming from, who’s busy, and who’s wife/hubby has them on lock down for the evening 😂.

I’m looking to connect with experienced snake handlers who live in or near some of the farther reaches of the county, including areas such as:

📍 Gordonville
📍 Gunter
📍 Howe
📍 Pottsboro
📍 Sadler
📍 Van Alstyne
📍 Whitesboro
📍 Whitewright/Tom Bean

If you have experience identifying and safely handling native snake species (venomous experience is super helpful but NOT required!), a passion for wildlife conservation, and enjoy educating the public, I’d love to hear from you.

The goal is to build a network of trusted relocators throughout the county so that residents can get help more quickly, no matter where they’re located.
