Band Family,
Thank you to everyone who attended the SHS Bearcat Band's Sneak Peek on Friday night! I was so glad to see so many folks out to support our hard working band members. A special thanks goes out to the former band members in the audience, several who made a special trip home from college to attend! The band looked and sounded great and I am so excited for the marching season to begin!
Here is this week's busy schedule!
Monday - Leadership meeting at 8:00am
Rehearsal - 5:00-7:00pm
7:00pm - Students will change into their polos/spirit of Sherman shirts as well as khakis and tennis shoes
7:20pm - We will move to the SHS Courtyard for the BOTA Pep Rally
7:30pm - BOTA Pep Rally! Go Bearcats!!
8:15pm - Pep rally ends and students are dismissed
Tuesday - Rehearsal - 6:45-8:15am
Wind Ensemble Masterclass - French Horn - 4:30-5:30pm
Wind Ensemble Masterclass - Euphonium - 5:30-6:30pm
Wednesday - Rehearsal - 6:45-8:15am
Wind Ensemble Masterclass - Trumpet - 4:30-6:30pm
Thursday - Rehearsal - 6:45-8:15am
Wind Ensemble Masterclass - Percussion - 5:30-6:30pm
Friday - Rehearsal - 6:45-8:15am
BATTLE OF THE AXE!!!!! We are so excited to be a part of the oldest football rivalry in the state of Texas! Plans are in motion but not fully solid yet. Here is our plan AT THIS TIME. I'll send another email on Wednesday after everything has become final. The biggest issue right now is getting the drumline to Denison early and getting them fed.
4:30pm - SHS Drumline and pit load a bus and leave for Denison
4:30pm - All other students will eat dinner at this time - Dinner is provided by the SHS Band Boosters
5:00pm - Drumline and pit arrive at Munson Stadium for a drumline battle with Denison's drumline. The pit students are there to provide support, cheer our kids on, and help unload on site.
5:15pm - All other students load the remaining five buses
5:30pm - Remaining five buses leave for Denison
5:30pm - The drumline battle begins in the park next to Munson Stadium
6:00pm - The drumline battle ends and all percussion students eat dinner that Mr. Jenkins will pick up for them
6:00pm - The other five buses arrive at the stadium and students unload
6:30pm - All students will take their seats (on the field) in chairs provided by Denison
7:00pm - Kickoff! Go Bearcats!!!
10:00pm - Game ends - Load trucks and buses
10:30pm - Leave for home
11:00pm - Home
One important reminder - Daily attendance is being taken at rehearsal and only one lateness is allowed per week. We all have our bad mornings! But if a student is late twice, they will not perform at halftime of the Denison game on Friday. Those students will still travel with us to the game and play at their seat, but once halftime arrives, those students will stand with the directors at the front of the field and watch the band perform. We need everyone to be on time to rehearsal so that we can maximize our time together! Let's be a great team this year!
One additional date reminder:
Saturday, September 12 - SISD Stadium Community Event - This will be the first time that the community of Sherman is invited in to tour our new stadium. The band will take part in a pep rally from 6:00-6:30pm and be dismissed directly after that. A few students will be asked to stay behind and assist with some games and photo opportunities that are planned. Should be a wonderful time as we dedicate the SHS Bearcat Band's new home!
