I’d like to take a moment, if you’ll allow me, to say thank you to the SHS Band Program and let you know what it meant to my family.

We’ve been involved with the program for the last nine years or so. To all the directors that have worked with my kids - thank you for all you’ve down to help mold them into the amazing young people they are.

They’ve learned how to work with people, organization, time management, dedication, how to deal with heartbreak, how to celebrate triumph, goal setting and goal reaching, and the joy of playing music just to name a few things. My boys loved their time in percussion and low brass, but my daughter loved it the most - so much so that she will be continuing her career in the marching band at East Texas A&M!

It’s been an honor to be involved in many, many different chairs for the booster club - my favorite being running this page for the last I have no idea how many years! I hope I kept you informed and encouraged about what’s going on in the band program. Most of all I hope the students felt how proud we, as parents, are of their hard work and achievements.

Thank you for allowing me a chance to be involved in your kids lives. There are some amazing kiddos in our band program! It’s been a fun and exhausting ride, and I’m ready to hand it off to the next group of dedicated parents!

Support the band! Get involved! I promise you will be blessed more than you could ever imagine!

The SHS Bearcat Band is going to another DCI show this summer! This year, we are planning to attend the McKinney show on Monday, July 20. The tickets will be $36.00 and can be paid for in any of the following ways:

I'll have details on travel times and plans for that day soon. But for now, make sure to sign up! We have purchased 100 tickets this year and plan to take two buses! If we have leftovers after offering them to the kids, we will make sure to offer them to band parents and graduated students from the program.

On to the next thing! Fireworks World!!!

Band Family,

Now that we're back from Disney (amazing trip, more details later!), we are ready to organize our Fireworks World fundraiser! Thank you so much to Brittany Jones for setting up the Signup Genius and getting things ready to go!

If you haven't done this before, Fireworks World is east of Sherman on Highway 82 and utilizes SHS band students to help staff their store. In return for our help, the band receives a portion of the profits which we then split up between the workers. Each student, or their parent, must work 4 shifts to be a part of the profit sharing. Because of state law, students must be 16 years old to work, but a parent is welcome to work for that student. The dates run from June 24 to July 4 and are broken into 2 shifts, early and later.

All the kids are so ready for Magic Kingdom!!

The students in these pictures are supported by a click track and synchronized instrumentation for the film 'Moana', complementing the band's performance.

Additionally, they performed music for Hercules, Haunted Mansion, and Phantom Menace. This has been a remarkable experience for our students!
