This week’s Volunteer Spotlight shines on one of our amazing male volunteers — yes, the guys help too! 😊
Meet Dave Hupp, a 7-year veteran volunteer with Friends of Foster Kids.

We asked Dave why he chose to volunteer with FOFK:
"My friend Doug introduced me to FoFK. We talked about it for years. Once I retired, I came to volunteer."

And what kinds of things does he do around the center?

🚲 Building bikes for Christmas
📦 Heavy lifting and moving donations
🛠 Building and fixing things around the center
🔧 Serving on the Maintenance Team

And yes… Dave is truly one of those volunteers who helps wherever needed. From maintenance projects to Christmas prep, he is always willing to jump in and lend a hand.

We are incredibly grateful for all the hard work, dedication, and heart Dave brings to our mission helping foster youth across our community.

Thank you, Dave! We appreciate ALL you do! 💙

What a day! ⛳💙

The Friends of Foster Kids Charity Golf Outing was one for the books! We were blessed with beautiful weather, a sold-out crowd of golfers, plenty of smiles and camaraderie, and some very happy raffle prize winners.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event such a success — our sponsors, golfers, donors, volunteers, and the wonderful staff at Greystone Golf Club. Your support allows us to continue our mission of helping foster children feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Our hearts are full knowing that, together, we can make a difference in the lives of the children we serve.

And now... it's time to share some photos of the golfers who enjoyed a fantastic day on the links! 📸⛳

FOFK had a spectacular day at our Annual Charity Golf Outing! ⛳️☀️

Perfect weather, a beautiful venue, and a course full of enthusiastic golfers made for an incredible day. A special thank you to Greystone Golf Club for hosting us and helping make this event such a success.

We took so many photos that we'll be sharing them in several posts over the coming days. Here is the first batch—enjoy!

From the bottom of our hearts, Friends of Foster Kids thanks every golfer, sponsor, volunteer, donor, and supporter who helped make this event possible. Your generosity allows us to continue serving foster children throughout Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties.

And yes, we'll say it again...

YOU are the wind beneath our wings. ❤️

Because of you, foster children know they are seen, valued, and cared for. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us make a difference, one child at a time.

Who is the Powers Family, you ask?

Fifteen years ago, what started as a small family golf outing organized by the Powers family has grown into the Friends of Foster Kids Charity Golf Outing we know today—an event that now welcomes more than 150 golfers each year in support of foster children throughout Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.

The original organizers were five siblings and relatives of our founder, Theresa Toia, Clara Tommy, Jimmy, Poochie ( Theresa's mother) , and Billy. While these beloved family members have all since passed on, their legacy lives on through the many family members, friends, and community supporters who continue to make this event a success year after year.

One cherished Powers family tradition remains the Grand Door Prize. The special commemorative flasks and gifts honor the original five organizers and their favorite "4 o'clock beverages"—a lighthearted tribute that keeps their memories alive and brings smiles to golfers each year.

Today, we want to recognize the special significance of the Powers family and thank them for their unwavering support, generosity, and dedication. Their commitment has helped make countless Christmases brighter for the foster children we serve.

To the Powers family: thank you for your love, your tradition, and your continued support of Friends of Foster Kids. Your legacy is woven into the fabric of this event, and we are forever grateful.

❤️ From all of us at Friends of Foster Kids, thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of so many children. Macomb County Seniors .of.foster.deca Detroit Athletic Club

This has certainly been the week of handmade quilt donations, and we are truly in awe of the love, care, and generosity poured into every stitch.

This week, Evelyn and members of First Presbyterian Church delivered 30 beautiful handmade queen-size quilts for the foster children we serve. With this donation, we have now received 87 handmade quilts since September!

These quilts are more than blankets—they are tangible reminders to foster children that they are seen, valued, and cared for by their community.

Thank you, Evelyn, and everyone at First Presbyterian Church, for sharing your talents, compassion, and hearts with the children we serve. Your kindness will provide warmth and comfort for years to come. ❤️
