✨🐾 Throwback Spotlight: K-9 Getty & Detective Craig Rekoske 🐾✨

Today we’re honoring another unforgettable Shawano County K‑9 team - K‑9 Getty and his handler, Detective Craig Rekoske. Their partnership spanned 8.5 years, marked by dedication, discipline, and an unbreakable bond forged through countless moments of service. 💙🚔

K‑9 Getty served the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department for 8.5 years, working alongside Craig, who has devoted 20 years to law enforcement and continues to serve our community as a detective. Together, they formed a team known for focus, reliability, and exceptional tracking skills. 🚓💼

Getty was all business - serious, driven, and always ready to work. His commitment to the job made him one of the most dependable K‑9s in the county.🐾🐕

Throughout his career, Getty made a powerful impact, including one unforgettable moment:

🔍 Tracking five individuals who fled from a vehicle and successfully locating four out of five.
A testament to his skill, determination, and the seamless teamwork between dog and handler.

Getty’s dedication didn’t end at retirement. In true working‑dog fashion, he refused to settle into life as an inside dog. Instead, he continued to patrol the yard, keeping watch and alerting Craig whenever someone pulled into the driveway. Once a K‑9, always a K‑9. 🐕💙

We honor Getty’s years of service and thank Detective Craig Rekoske for his continued commitment to Shawano County, his partnership with SOS K‑9, and the lasting legacy he and Getty built together. ⭐️🛡️

Twenty-five years after Sept. 11, 2001, we pause to remember the lives lost, honor the first responders and service members who answered the call, and recognize the resilience of a nation forever changed by that day.

The legacy of 9/11 lives not only in remembrance, but in the generations of Americans who chose service, sacrifice and commitment to something greater than themselves.

Today, we honor the fallen, those who responded in our nation’s darkest hours, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Throwback Spotlight: K‑9 Deano & Captain Nick Prey ✨🐾

Today we’re looking back on one of Shawano County’s most unforgettable K‑9 teams; K‑9 Deano and his handler, Captain Nick Prey.

K‑9 Deano was born in Germany on May 4, 2005, and joined the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department in March 2007. During his service, which continued until his retirement in 2012, Deano mastered the art of tracking and narcotic detection. 🇩🇪🐕

Deano was known for his playful personality, endless energy, and unwavering dedication to his work. Throughout his career, he served Shawano County by:

🔍Locating missing people
🎒Performing locker “sniffs” in schools
🚫Keeping drugs out of classrooms
🛡️Protecting his handler and fellow law enforcement officers

Deano was proudly partnered with the current Captain Nick Prey, who has dedicated 25 years of service to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department. Nick began his career as a correctional officer and worked his way up to his current role as Captain. Together, Nick and Deano formed an unstoppable, deeply influential team whose work strengthened safety, trust, and community protection across the county. 🚓💪🏻

K‑9 Deano passed away on September 2, 2016, but his legacy continues to live on through every life he protected and every case he helped solve. 🌈🐾

We honor Deano’s service and continue to thank Captain Nick Prey for his years as a dedicated handler, for his partnership with SOS K‑9, and for the leadership he brings to our community today. 💙⭐️
