It’s a little gray and just a bit chilly out there today so it’s the perfect time for a warm and yummy breakfast! Stop by the Seward Resort at the Freedom Fighters Food Ttruck and get yourself an amazing breakfast burrito all prepared by our own Connie!!!

Today, the City of Seward Electric Department had the pleasure of hosting a group of U.S. Air National Guard Airmen from Connecticut for a behind-the-scenes tour of both the Fort Raymond Power Plant and the Mt. Marathon Hydroelectric Facility.

These Airmen serve as power plant operators and electricians within their Civil Engineering Squadrons and are currently supporting a project at the Seward Military Resort. During their visit, our Operator Mechanics shared information about Seward's unique electric system, including our diesel generation capabilities at Fort Raymond and the ongoing efforts to restore and modernize the Mt. Marathon Hydro Plant.

It was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge, discuss the challenges and rewards of operating utility infrastructure in Alaska, and showcase the dedication of the men and women who keep the lights on in our community.

We appreciate their service to our country and thank them for taking the time to visit with our team. Best of luck as they continue their work in Seward!

We at Seward Post 5 want to thank everybody who helped out set up the Memorial Day activities and came and participated in our ceremony as well as those who came to witness the presentations. It’s an important day in our history, and we have an obligation to remember.

With all that said I want to thank everybody for their patience with the audio system that didn’t seem to be completely up to s***f and I promise you next year we will have something that even the most hardest of hearing can still hear. 😁 You just never know how much traffic and train noises interfere with outdoor presentations. Thanks again for coming, and thankfully the weather was fabulous!
