Have a love for music and want to connect with your community? The Sequim City Band is looking for new musicians to join the fun!

We’re especially hoping to welcome clarinet, French horn, tenor saxophone, bassoon, and tuba players, but all woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians are encouraged to join us.

📅 Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm)
📍 Location: Chuck Swisher Rehearsal Hall at the James Center for the Performing Arts, 506 N. Blake Ave., Sequim
⏰ Rehearsal length: 2 hours

💍 One Ring to rule them all…

It’s been 25 years since audiences first journeyed to Middle-earth in 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙞𝙣𝙜! From the peaceful Shire to the epic adventure of the Fellowship, 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲’s unforgettable score helped bring J.R.R. Tolkien’s world to life.

🧊 What can music tell us about a man who lived more than 5,000 years ago?

On November 1, 𝘚𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘮 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘥 will take you thousands of years into the past with 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗰𝗲 by Austrian composer Otto M. Schwarz, part of our 𝗠𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆, 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 concert.

In 1991, a melting glacier in the Ötztal Alps revealed something extraordinary: the naturally preserved remains of a man who had been frozen in time for approximately 5,300 years.

Known as Ötzi, he was discovered remarkably well preserved, along with his clothing, tools, and weapons; offering an incredible glimpse into life during the Copper Age.

Inspired by a documentary exploring what Ötzi's life may have been like, Schwarz brings this ancient mystery to life through music. With his background in film and television composition, Man in the Ice unfolds almost like a movie without pictures - evoking the frozen Alpine landscape, Ötzi's world, and the unanswered questions surrounding his life and death.

Looking for a fun way to make music, meet new people, and be part of your community? The Sequim City Band is welcoming new musicians! We're especially looking for players on clarinet, french horn, tenor saxophone, bassoon, and tuba, but we welcome all woodwind, brass, and percussion players.
We rehearse every Wednesday for 2-hours (with a post-Christmas-New Years break of 4-5 weeks) take place at the Chuck Swisher Rehearsal Hall starting at 7pm. Doors to the hall open at 6:30pm. Our friends at the Port Angeles Symphony open their 2026–2027 season tomorrow at the Port Angeles Performing Arts Center!

Performing with the orchestra are several members of the Sequim City Band! The woodwinds include oboist Nancy Reis, flutist Marie Myers, Vincent Oneppo on bass clarinet, and saxophonist Jayne Morrison. In the brass section are trumpeters Doug Brundage and Nancy Nechodom, principal trombonist Jeff Craig, and our Musical Director, Tyler Benedict, on principal tuba.

In the percussion section are Cheryl Mingee and Jack Morrissey, along with Anne Burns, who plays viola with the orchestra - and is the new director of the Sequim Community Orchestra!

Leading the Port Angeles Symphony is Maestro Jonathan Pasternack, who plays trombone with the Sequim City Band and has also joined our percussion section on occasion!

It’s always great to see so many familiar SCB faces making music throughout our community. Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s performances—come out and support our friends at the Port Angeles Symphony!

We have an exciting 2026–2027 Indoor Concert Season ahead as the Sequim City Band explores the theme of “Wonder!” 🎶✨

Our season begins November 1 at 2:00 PM at the Port Angeles Performing Arts Center (304 E Park Ave), and we hope you’ll join us as we kick off another great season of music!

🍂 November 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM — “Mystery, Lore, and Wonder”
🎄 December 20, 2026 at 2:00 PM — “Season of Wonder”
🌌 March 21, 2027 at 2:00 PM — “Infinite Wonder”

Mark your calendars, bring your family and friends, and come experience the music with us! As always, Sequim City Band concerts are free and open to everyone.
