Be:Seattle serves both unhoused and low-income renter neighbors in Seattle from very diverse backgrounds including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, youth, elders, and the LGBTQIA+ community. These communities share the collective experience of being the Seattle residents most impacted by housing injustice through intersectional discrimination based on race, mental illness, substance abuse, age, disability, sexuality, and gender. Be:Seattle works with renters across the city, but low-income renters are concentrated in Seattle neighborhoods that are racially and economically diverse where they experience discrimination from landlords and other housing concerns. We also work closely with the houseless community, and it is our unique goal to draw connections and build solidarity between our houseless and renter neighbors.
