What a fun day in downtown Seattle!

Marcus Trufant and I had the chance to visit the IHeartMedia Seattle studio, and it was such a great experience from start to finish. Huge thanks to Rory Brown and Jessamyn McIntyre for setting everything up and making us feel so welcome.

We kicked things off with a tour of the studio and got to see live broadcasts happening across several iHeart stations. Then Marcus sat down with Ian Furness for a great interview covering the Seahawks’ new lineup, coaching style, team dynamics, his time at Washington State University Athletics, and our upcoming charity golf event at Canterwood Golf & Country Club on July 27.

After that, Marcus recorded PSAs that iHeart will be sharing across their stations starting June 1. To wrap up the visit, Marcus and I joined Jessamyn for the Seattle Voice show to talk about Believe in Me’ and Cougs 4 Kids missions to help underserved youth build the confidence, support, and opportunities they need to succeed through scholarships and so much more.

We’re so grateful to Rory, Jessamyn, and the entire iHeart team for giving so generously of their time and helping us share our mission with the community. We’re blessed to have iHeart as a media partner and truly appreciate their support.

Congratulations to all of the teams advancing to the final round of the Washington State University Believe in Me High School Business Plan Competition!

I’ll be on campus in Pullman on April 30 for the final round, trade show, and awards dinner, and I can’t wait to celebrate these incredible young entrepreneurs.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Barin Saxton from Canopy Credit Union today, and I left the conversation truly impressed.

Before our call, Barin was at Lumen High School providing financial literacy training for pregnant and parenting teen students. After that, he did an interview with local news. Then he still made time to connect with me about Believe in Me and our shared commitment to supporting underestimated youth in our community.

What stood out most was Canopy Credit Union’s commitment to meeting people where they are. They are creating a more inclusive financial experience for individuals and families who are too often overlooked by traditional systems.

When I asked Barin what he was most proud of, he shared one of his favorite projects: Canopy’s debit card that allows members to use their chosen name. For transgender and nonbinary community members, that kind of dignity and respect matters deeply.

If you are LGBTQIA+, a young person building financial confidence, or someone who wants guidance from people who look beyond a credit score and get to know the real you, Canopy Credit Union is worth getting to know.

Up to $50,000 in scholarships now open for first-generation students.

In collaboration with the Trufant Family Foundation, Believe in Me is now accepting applications for its 2026 Scholarship Program for students across Washington, Oregon, and Northern Idaho pursuing college, trade school, or career training.

This scholarship looks beyond GPA and test scores to recognize resilience, leadership, determination, and the barriers students have overcome.

Awards: $2,500–$10,000
Deadline: May 15, 2026

Cougs—this one’s for you ❤️🐾

We’re gearing up for a MentorBoost Kit Build Day on March 30, and we need space + helping hands to make it happen! We’re assembling kits that will be delivered directly to youth attending Camp Coug (April 1–2), a powerful, hands-on experience focused on mentorship, belonging, leadership, and future pathways.

📍 We’re looking for:
• A location to host the build
• Volunteers to help assemble kits
• Partners willing to donate items or funding

This is a special shout-out to the Washington State University Alumni Association—come show up for the next generation, but truly, all are welcome.

Camp Coug is a collaborative effort between Cougs 4 Kids, Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington and Washington State University, bringing students together for mentorship, college & career exposure, and real-world encouragement.
