When you and your child get home today, and y'all get situated. Take at least 15 minutes and ask about what interests them, with no suggestions. However, don't let them give you yes or no responses. You should ask, oh yeah, why do you like that? How does it make you feel when you do or play that? When did you become interesting in that? What do you think will make you better in that.

There are not right or wrong answers, just talk, show them your interest.

Most classrooms are taught for auditory learners, so if your child learns differently, they are then labeled as slow. Your child is not slow! Help them at home with their learning style, since we cannot dictate the schools.

Hey Mom & Dad, when asking your child how their 1st day of school was, trying narrowing down the question.
For example: Sweetie how was school, they will typically respond, "good."
Instead try this;
Hey sweetie, what classes did you have today or what subjects did you talk about?
Which one was your favorite ( listen for response without interjecting your opinion)?
Why was that your favorite?
What was your teachers like?
Do you have a favorite so far?

Just simple things to get the conversation flowing and being apart of your child's day, without being apart of your child's day.💜

Parents remember some of your children may have mix emotions of anxiety and excitement for their first day of school. Be patient with them, fix them breakfast, pray with them and encourage them to be their best. Try your best not to show anger at them, no matter what stupid thing they may do, no one wants to start the first day of year sad.
