Calling girls and young women across Washington ages 14–22! 📣💗

The Washington State Women's Commission is accepting applications for its inaugural Youth Advisory Council, a new opportunity for young people to bring their voices and lived experiences directly into conversations about state policies and programs. Members will work with commissioners and staff, meet with state leaders and gain hands-on experience in civic engagement and public policy.

As a legislator and former educator, I know our decisions are stronger when young people have meaningful opportunities to be heard. I especially encourage young women in the 28th Legislative District who are interested in leadership, public service or making a difference in their communities to apply — no previous leadership or government experience is required.

📅 Applications are due Oct. 25.

Every gift matters. Every month matters. Every person who chooses to stand with us helps keep this work going until we are longer needed.

If giving financially isn’t possible right now, you can still make a difference. Share this post and help our story reach someone in your network who may be able to support our work.

Your share, introduction, or word of encouragement can open a door we could not reach on our own. It has always taken a village—and right now, the Sisterhood need ours.

Calling all girls ages 10–18! ⚽️🏈⚾️

The Washington State Women's Commission is hosting Girls on the Field on Oct. 17 in Tacoma, bringing together professionals from the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners and Seattle Reign FC for a day of sports, skill-building and fun.

I’ve worked in the Legislature to make physical activity more accessible for young people, including passing my bill to guarantee elementary students at least 30 minutes of recess each school day. Every young person deserves opportunities to move, play, build confidence and feel like they belong — and I love seeing opportunities that encourage girls to get involved in sports. 💜

📅 Saturday, Oct. 17 | 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
