Founded by a group of Seattle theater janitors, SEIU6 became one of the original locals of the Service Employees International Union in 1921. Today SEIU6 represents more than 9,000 janitors, security officers, and allied industries workers in Washington state. SEIU6 members are janitors who clean office buildings in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Spokane counties and security officers in downtown Se

attle, Bellevue, and greater King County suburbs. SEIU6 also represents stadium workers and barbers in other private sectors within our region. SEIU6 is part of the largest union in the country, Service Employees International Union, which represents over 2 million service workers in North America. SEIU6 is proud to have the most diverse membership and leadership in the Labor Movement, representing a majority BIPOC and largely immigrant workforce.

Yesterday, on Día de las Madres, SEIU6 members went to the Northwest Detention Center to support all the mothers who have been cruelly separated from their families. While most people celebrated this special day with their families, we must not forget the people detained in these inhumane prisons. La Resistencia and our sister locals are committed to fight until these prisons are shut down!
