The Alliance for Pioneer Square is proud to announce the first phase of a new Pioneer Square Community Safety Plan, a joint initiative with the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, the Seattle Police Department, and the City Auditor’s Office.

We are developing a safety strategy tailored specifically to the unique geography and resident needs of Pioneer Square to identify changes that will make a real difference.

We need to hear from everyone who lives in Pioneer Square. Please take 10 minutes to complete our Housing Environment Survey.

Your feedback will directly inform the strategies we present in upcoming community forums. This plan isn't just created for the community; it’s created by the community. Stay tuned for more information about solutions for a safer neighborhood.

Pioneer Square is the newest certified Creative District in the state thanks to people like Judith Rinehart of J. Rinehart Gallery (pictured at left) and Dominic Nieri of Urban Villages (pictured at right), who led the effort. “What I love about Pioneer Square is that it feels like a small town inside a big city," said Nieri. “That’s the heart of this creative district: it’s a community first, and everything beautiful here grows out of that.”

Seattle Mayor Katie B. Wilson visited The Pastry Project recently, highlighting one of Pioneer Square's most creative (and delicious!) small enterprises to celebrate National Small Business Week, May 3-9. Looks like Mayor Wilson was able to walk away with a sweet reminder of her visit.

Join the Alliance, the BIA, and a host of neighborhood volunteers on Sunday, May 17, 9-11:30 a.m., for our annual Spring Clean. This event is open to all ages and abilities, so feel free to invite your friends, family, and coworkers to volunteer.

Your last chance to register for Spring Clean 2026 is Wednesday, May 6! Don't miss out on this community-wide effort to make a positive difference in Pioneer Square.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. in Occidental Square Park. Cleanup activities will launch at 9 a.m. and go until 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be provided at check-in. Free parking also provided.
