MeaningfulMoviesProject We help communities organize, educate, advocate & build community around social justice documentary film and conversation. More: www.meaningfulmovies.org

ABOUT THE MEANINGFUL MOVIES PROJECT:
“Meaningful Movies” are neighborhood film & discussion events (and groups), organized around shared principles. We focus on social justice issues and advocacy.

“The Meaningful Movies Project” is a non-profit organization that helps neighborhoods, groups and individuals organize, educate and advocate using the power of social justice documentary film and conver

sation to build positive and meaningful community. It is the organizing arm of the Meaningful Movies Network, facilitating communications and providing resources and support.

“The Meaningful Movies Network” is a collective of autonomous neighborhood and community Meaningful Movies groups that have agreed to work together and support one another. WHAT WE DO:
We advocate for public discussion and critical debate in an environment where everyone is free to speak openly without fear. We empower citizens to gather, educate, inspire, connect, and commit to effective, non-violent solutions in building a more peaceful and just world. We support building meaningful & resilient community. We encourage and assist communities and organizations in their efforts to become more aware of and critically analyze local, domestic and international social justice issues. We support independent film. To be truly sustainable, we need to view our efforts holistically. This necessarily includes the efforts of the independent film industry we depend upon (and who depend upon us), and view them as true partners in this effort. Permission is secured for all copyrighted materials including every feature film screened.

“The Meaningful Movies Project” evolved from the success of “Friday Night at the Meaningful Movies” in the Wallingford Community of Seattle, originally a project of Wallingford Neighbors for Peace and Justice and the S.N.O.W. Coalition (Sound Non-violent Opponents of War).
“The Meaningful Movies Project” now acts to provide support for “Friday Night at the Meaningful Movies”, NOW KNOWN AS "Meaningful Movies in Wallingford" and similar efforts by many others. We are grateful for the support of several granting institutions including The Tulalip Tribe, Humanities Washington, The HerRay Foundation, 4Culture and ArtsWA. 🎉 We’ve hit $3,233! A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We are so close to our $5,000 goal but we need your support to make sure we meet our goal.

⏳ We have just FIVE DAYS until the deadline on Monday, June 8th. Our 12-year-old website is at risk of crashing. With your donation, you are not just supporting a new website for MMP but you are part of ensuring that the mission of Meaningful Movies Project continues on, actively participating in peace through film and conversations.

If everyone in our MMP community donates just $10, we would easily meet our goal. All donors will be recognized on our brand-new site!

Thank you all for the support we have received for our Birthday Donation Campaign so far! Our total is now $2,055.27. We are just shy of being halfway to our goal of $5,000.00. We really need your support to make sure we reach our goal. The campaign lasts until June 8th, so there is still time to donate!

Donations go towards supporting our new website. This will help make accessing our content and social justice screenings easier. This update is essential to helping us to continue to sustain and grow the MMP Community.

I’m Abby Lin and I have been a part of MMP for four years now since I started as a High School Intern. I am now a part of the MMP Board and Media Content & Social Media Team. Over these years, I have been so fortunate to meet so many excellent people through MMP and engage in many purposeful conversations through the screenings. I am so grateful for this inspiring community and MMP’s commitment to social justice and community dialogues. Donations make this work possible, so I would like to take this opportunity again to thank you all for your participation. For those who have not yet donated, the link is http://meaningfulmovies.org/donate/.

Thank you again for being a part of our community!

The best birthday gift is a new digital home for Meaningful Movies! From May 21st to June 8th, the Meaningful Movies Project is having our third annual Birthday Donation Campaign. This year’s theme is “Building Our Foundation: A Birthday Tribute to MMP,” and our goal is to raise money for our new website and to build a “Community Curator” network.
The Meaningful Movies Project relies on support from donors and our community, and we have been fortunate to have a strong network of individuals dedicated to social justice and the power of film. You can donate at http://meaningfulmovies.org/donate/.
We are eternally thankful for all the support you provide, regardless of what you are able to donate. We would be unable to accomplish our mission without your dedication and support. Thank you again and we hope to see you at a future screening!
