URGENT- From Bellevue College:

POSTPONED- ‘Never Again is Now Mural’ Rededication will NOT happen today -May 14th
due to Campus Power Outage .

Unfortunately, due to power issues across campus, Bellevue College will suspend all campus operations on Thursday, May 14 effective immediately until 5 PM.

This means all classes, events, and activities are canceled until 5 PM.

Bellevue College will communicate event details of the rescheduled Never Again is Now: A Permanent Commitment mural ceremony at a later date.

We appreciate your flexibility to ensure the mural ceremony is able to be accessed and celebrated by all.

Today in 2003, the first pilgrimage was made to Minidoka in Idaho. At its peak, the Minidoka Concentration Camp incarcerated approximately 9,400 people of Japanese ancestry. About six decades after its closure in 1945, 120 pilgrims returned to this site to remember the friends and family that had once been incarcerated there. Since then, the program has grown to include educational and inspirational segments that aid in the preservation of the site's history. Organizations such as the Minidoka National Historic Site team, the Minidoka Pilgrimage Planning Committee, and the Friends of Minidoka have also been established to ensure that the history of the site is never forgotten. This summer, the National Park Service (NPS) plans limited public tours of the Honouliuli National Historic Site. NPS has yet to publish the tour schedule.

The historic site has remained largely unknown to visitors and even residents.
