Love Hip Hop?? Interested in HHSA?? Come to our 5 pillars event!

HHSA is hosting our first Dawg Daze event THIS Thursday! Stop by and learn about the five pillars of hip-hop: breaking, mcing, knowledge, graffiti, and djing. Learn about important hip-hop history, get to know the board members, and participate in activities and meet new people. Open to anyone who is interested in or loves hip-hop!

MEET YOOJIN:

Hey everyone, this is Yoojin! I was a member of Undivided for 2 years and former Dance Chair during the ‘24-’25 season. Since then, I’ve been training and performing with different groups in the Seattle dance community. I’m excited to be back to teach for HHSA one last time before I graduate, and I can’t wait to reconnect with everyone and share the space with some new faces too!

MEET BRANDON:

Yo! My name is Brandon Ly and I was Dance Chair on UWU from 2018-2020 and President of UWHHSA from 2020-2022, my favorite memories from my time on HHSA were planning the Bringin’ it Back battle and all of the dance education events we held to teach students about hip hop culture and dance :)

MEET ONYX:

YO! This is Onyx! I have been movin and groovin since I was 8 years-old and I am currently based out of Seattle, WA. I was a part of UW HHSA’s Hip-Hop choreography based team, UW Undivided, years 2021-2023 (2021-2022 UWU Intern & 2022-2023 UWU Dance Chair). I am fortunate enough to say that I am a cross-trained dancer. I am trained in classical western styles (ballet, modern, tap , jazz, contemporary) along with hip-hop and other street styles. Currently, I am in an exploration phase of my movement journey and I have been really diving into the “human” aspect of storytelling and creation. My style today is a fusion of all of the movement disciplines I know and can definitely be categorized as more abstract. The choreography I have is a vibe and definitely challenges textures, shapes, and body control! Can’t wait to see you in class!!!!

MEET AZ:

Hi everyone, my name is AZ Dela Cuesta. I’ve been dancing since 2017 and primarily focus on choreography inspired by street and studio styles, including Hip-Hop, Krump, and Contemporary. I love creating choreography that emphasizes mindful body connection, momentum, and unique weight shifts. I was part of HHSA from 2017–2020, serving as Social Media Chair from 2018–2019 and HHSA President in 2020.

Favorite HHSA Memory:
Connecting with so many people in the community through events like Fresh Fit, the Undivided Showcase, and HHSA info sessions.

Ayy what’s up yall it’s Therese! I’m super excited to DJ UW HHSA’s beginner battle! Fun fact: I first learned how to DJ so that I could play for UW HHSA’s Halloween battle back in 2023! Since then, l’ve DJ’d battles in Vancouver, California, and more here in Seattle! I’m curating some cool tracks for this battle so I’m super excited to see what yall got!

IT’S TIME FOR JUDGE: JENSINE 🌿

Jensine is a freestyle dancer of Cambodian ethnicity who started dancing in Federal Way 16 years ago and reps the South King County areas and Seattle. Main styles sit within animation, waving, tutting while practicing and training in other styles for the love of dance and music. His dance is primarily inspired by his culture, community and personal hobbies (pokemon/videogames/manga/anime) and being heavily focused in the music.
