Washington saw record levels of eviction cases in 2025. Courts, attorneys and sheriff's offices are struggling to keep up with the load.

UCEF’s here to share resources and information to help keep families in their homes. The City of Seattle published a handbook dedicated to informing renters of their rights.

Here are some basics anyone renting in the city should know:

1. Rent increases are restricted to a 9.683% bump
2. Households can't be evicted during the winter or during the school year for families with students.
3. Landlords must have a legal reason to end or renew a lease.
