Asian Alliance for Mental Health

Asian Alliance for Mental Health Hi, we're Asian Alliance for Mental Health. How are you doing today?

The Asian Alliance for Mental Health (formerly known as API Cares) is a registered student organization at the University of Washington that aims to de-stigmatize mental health through open dialogue and multimedia storytelling to bring visibility to mental health issues within Asian communities. Our primary goal is to build a community network and safe space for Asians to discuss mental health as well as provide resources for those in need of support.

This year, Lunar New Year (LNY)🧧 is celebrated on January 29th, 2025. However Lunar New Year is not just a one day celebration. In fact, countries like China and Korea take multiple days to celebrate.

Despite LNY being a happy celebration, it’s not always a happy experience for many people. Whether it’s your family nagging at you on when you’re getting married/ settling or people living alone that don’t have anyone to celebrate, everyone can still celebrate this significantly beautiful holiday in their own ways that’s still fulfilling. 🍃 🐍

Feel free to let us know in the comments about how you plan to celebrate Lunar New Year! 🏮

Lastly, another friendly reminder that our LNY Healing Circle is on Friday January 31st from 6 - 7 pm in📍 Savery 162! 🗓️ Reach out to us if you have any questions & RVSP in our bio ✨

Have you ever noticed any physical tension built in your body when you’re stressed? AAMH has curated the series”Somatics with Smiskis” as a reminder that the mind-body connection is crucial to breaking the stress cycle, which allows you to gain greater access to your internal resources, such as intelligence and compassion when approaching stressors 💙

Swipe for more examples and videos on how you can release that stress with somatics! We also compiled a YouTube playlist with tutorials if you’re interested to learn more 🧘
