Freeway Park Association The Freeway Park Association has been building community and improving Freeway Park since 1993.

The Freeway Park Association is a 501c3 membership based and community driven non-profit organization who has been working alongside the Seattle Parks Department since 1993 to activate and advocate for Freeway Park. In partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, we have made great strides toward the enrichment of our Park and our community and we seek to engage our neighbors in a participatory dialogue about the future of the Park, the Neighborhood and the City.

Hi friends of Freeway Park! We are embarking on our first fall/winter membership drive and would love for you to consider joining us in this, our 50th anniversary year. Even a small investment in Freeway Park will help us keep the momentum going for the next 50 years! Link in bio 😊

From October 15, 2026 to December 15, 2026, every new member will be given the opportunity to win an INCREDIBLE collection of local goodies donated by our friends and partners. For every dollar associated with your membership level, you will receive one entry. For example, if you become a member at the $75 dollar level, you receive 75 entries. And ALL new members receive some cute FPA swag and member-only opportunities!

As green fades in the park, the yellow, chartreuse and reds of the new season shine through. 💚💛❤️ This time passes quickly so come catch a glimpse before it’s gone, along with artworks by Kate Clark and the Duwamish Design Collective. Fall Lantern fest is fast approaching on October 23 when we transition to a new art installation for the winter months. ✨ In the meantime, we have a book cart packed with reads and live music in Tues/Thursdays! Join us for our 12th year of painting parties in the park! This summer we invite community members to paint a canvas that will be made into a lantern for our annual fall lantern installation. ✨The Future is Bright is the theme for our 50th Anniversary. ✨ All supplies are provided, and all ages are welcome to connect and create!

Let’s get together for a PLANETARY DANCE! The final piece in our Legacy of Dance Series, honoring Freeway Park’s connection to movement, choreography in public spaces and happenings that Lawrence and Anna Halprin envisioned for this special place. RSVP at link in bio.

Dancer Lucie Baker will lead a group through Anna Halprin’s noted Planetary Dance community ritual. A Planetary Dance is a participatory ritual of healing and community renewal created in 1980 by legendary dance pioneer Anna Halprin. Designed as a dance for peace, it invites people of all ages and abilities to walk, run, or stand in concentric circles around a central group of drummers to create a moving mandala. The dance is rooted in engaged community activism and offers an opportunity to process grief, celebrate resilience, and dedicate one’s movement to a personal or global cause. After the dance, you can break bread with your neighbors at the potluck.

It’s our last movie in the summer of dance series :( So sad to see this summer come to an end but stay tuned for more fall and winter programs coming soon. This last film has one of the best dinner-party turned dance-party scenes of all time. And RIP to Catherine O’Hara, queen of sketch comedy and the improvised quirky character with a heart of gold. We miss her!

Thank you to all who came out to Freeway Park's 50th anniversary celebration! The joyous energy and creative atmosphere surpassed all of our expectations. What a great crowd of neighbors and guests!

Thank you to El Camion El Camion Seattle! The food was a tremendous hit! Many smiling faces in the food line and sitting at tables enjoying your delicious tamales.

For the art installations and music we want to call out Garfield Jazz Garfield High School Jazz for filling the plaza with music, Seattle buskers Emery Carl, Pasquale Santos miguels music stuff, also Kate Clark Kate Clark, the Duwamish Design Collective Duwamish Tribe of Indians and Tim Crandall at Tilt Shift Design Studio for our wonderful visual art installations and Field Guides Leah, for their site-specific, immersive sound installation.

Special thanks to our tabling and art partners who brought their knowledge and creative enrichment to the party , Coyote Central, Urban Sketchers Seattle, Lid I-5, Paper Pushers Zine Store by Seattle Printers Guild, Museum of History & Industry, Historic Seattle Gabi Campanario, The Vera Project

Freeway Park needs you! Let’s help the SPR team keep our favorite urban oasis tidy and lush. Meet up in Upper Lawns, adjacent to Seattle Convention Center, and we’ll be out cleaning, weeding, pruning, or planting. Join us for as long as you can spare! We will have some drinks and snacks! Tools and gloves provided.
