Ballard High School serves many students with many needs. David Furman teaches students with intellectual disabilities. His students with intellectual disabilities spend part of their school day working on vocational skills to support them getting a job and living independently.
As part of that program, they operate a coffee shop, Beaver Beans, where students learn to sell coffee cards, collect payment, label and organize materials, pull espresso using a professional espresso machine, ensure quality of their product, and delivery to staff. The more they can learn now, and the more likely they will get a job.
Mr. Furman is looking to expand that program, but he needs our help. With the support of Ms. Chambers, our Librarian, he has put together a DonorsChoose to fund items that will help this program expand and for a limited time there is a 2x match to all donations.
