What is Ballard Cares?

The COVID-10 pandemic impacted our lives unlike anything that has happened in generations. There are many Ballard High School families that were struggling before the outbreak of COVID-19 and as the crisis continues, their lives become even more difficult. The financial challenges that have beset much of the world have also had a substantial impact on Ballard families. Members of our community have lost jobs, had to close businesses, gotten sick, had family members move home and even had loved ones pass away. We love that Ballard is a community that comes together to support each other and when one of us is impacted, it impacts us all.

Today, Ballard High School, the Ballard High School PTSA, and the Ballard High School Foundation are renewing our partnership, bringing all of us together to make sure that those most impacted in our community know that Ballard Cares.

Ballard Cares is a fundraiser intended to provide monthly assistance for food and basic needs for families in crisis. Additionally, it will allow Principal Wynkoop to meet the emergent needs of families in our community that are struggling with the impacts of the pandemic. This includes items like food, clothing or gasoline, but could also include a printer to allow for digital learning, rental assistance, and more.

Please contribute whatever you can, whether that is $5, $50 or $5,000 and that money will go directly to supporting families in our community.

If your family is in need of assistance, please contact either your student’s counselor or an administrator at school to let us know what we can do to help.

Many of us are so fortunate to have our needs met on a daily basis, but now is the time for us to come together to ensure that EVERYONE in our community knows that Ballard Cares.

Every year, the Ballard High School Foundation "raises the paddle" at the Annual Dinner Of Champions and Auction, supporting Ballard High School Athletics. In recent years, Ballard High School Foundation, through Fund A Need efforts, has raised funds in support of the full time Athletic Trainer, and a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

This year as you know, there will be no Annual Dinner Of Champions, but we are having an online auction beginning on 8/16/20 and going through 8/23/20, culminating in a virtual, live streamed auction on the evening of Sunday 8/23/20 @ 7:00pm.

Part of both the online and live streamed auctions will be the Fund A Need ("raise the paddle"), which this year, will be in support of the Field Enhancements we talk about above.

We hope that you will donate to the "Funded Item" and help us make the field Ballard High School Field!
