As mentioned in last week's What's Up Westside, WSHS will have two additional portables in the main parking lot this year, which complicates student parking. There won't be enough spaces for all students to park in the parking lot, so here is a diagram and a list below of where students can and cannot park. NOTE: Many students will need to find their new favorite parking spots in the neighborhood streets in the school's periphery.

Fall sports families are invited to get ready for the upcoming season by attending the WSHS Fall Sports Night on September 1st! We will meet in the gym to discuss important information about how to prepare, district and school policies, and expectations for athletes, as well as team specific information. Questions? The first day of school will have a different schedule to make sure the school’s incoming 9th grade students have the opportunity to settle in before they head off to their classes! The building is closed to 10th-12th grade students until 12:40pm (except for Link Leaders, ASB, and new students).

We are rooting for the Seattle Education Association and Seattle Public Schools as they negotiate our educators' working conditions, so that they can better support our students’ educational conditions here at our school. The sooner they reach an agreement, the sooner our teachers and the district can start shifting their focus onto preparing for the school year. However, students and parents should be aware that if they cannot reach an agreement by September 2nd, this may cause a delay to the start of the school year. Our teachers can use community support during this time, as they navigate this process to ensure that they can keep dedicating themselves to quality education to the students within our community!

NEW WSHS STUDENTS & FAMILIES! You are invited to the school’s annual New Wildcat Ice Cream Social, which is an opportunity for you all to see the building, meet administrators, and gather with other new students in the commons, where there will be cold treats, and information about clubs and organizations within the school. It's a really great way to get the scoop on your new school ahead of the school year! Can't wait to see you there!

UPDATE from SPS Chief of Staff as of 08/25/26: We are pleased to share that students will be able to access documents stored in Naviance from Sept. 1 – Oct. 31, providing two additional months to retrieve and save materials they would like to keep. These materials may include resumes, essays, career and college planning documents, journal entries, and other student-uploaded files. We strongly encourage students and families to take advantage of this extended access period, as documents stored in Naviance will no longer be accessible after Oct. 31.

Original Post: As many of you know, if you are subscribed to the SPS district emails, soon SPS will no longer be using Naviance, and will be transitioning to a new High School & Beyond platform called Schoolinks. Students who previously used Naviance will not be able to access the platform after Aug. 17. (That's in three days!) If you have reports, documents, résumés, or other information in Naviance that you want to keep, please download your files before Aug. 17. An email went out from the SPS Chief of Staff earlier this evening, expressing acknowledgment to those concerned with the short notice, and that the district is willing to look into a way to give students more time to access important information that they need. Some documents may transfer to the new Schoolinks platform. However, to be on the safe side, be sure to download documents that you know you will not want to lose (especially resumes)!

We are also seeking volunteers for the Class of 2026 Senior Reception. It follows Senior Awards Night from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.
