On World Breast Cancer Research Day, we recognize the lifechanging work of HonorHealth Research Institute’s Breast Cancer Surgery Program led by Brenda Moorthy, DO, FACS. This research program is built on collaboration, innovation and translating science into real-world patient care.

In addition to studying biomarkers critical to cancer care and evaluating emerging technologies in breast surgery, the Institute contributes to product development for symptom monitoring and chemotherapy side effect tracking, ensuring patients have a voice while giving clinicians real-time tools to respond.

The team’s efforts reflect the Institute’s mission: Bridging technology with compassionate, patient-centered care, while training the next generation of physicians and researchers.

When donors invest in our HonorHealth healthcare professionals, the impact extends far beyond a single professional development opportunity.

As a child, Chastine Elam watched nurses care for her sister with compassion and kindness during difficult hospital stays. Their impact stayed with her and inspired her to become a nurse herself.

Today, Chastine brings that same compassion to every patient she serves as a trauma nurse at HonorHealth. Thanks to donor support through the Nursing Excellence Endowment, she was able to attend a national nursing conference that strengthened her confidence as a leader and patient advocate.
